i went to the new wave it is a good surf retintive easy to get to but super shallow the troff it is about 6 inch and all you can do is spins roundhouses go right into rock you dont ever have to roll beacuse you brace on the rocks..

Sounds good for Saturday then! Do you want to meet at Champlain Bridge, at 2pm, since you know where BYOB wave is? I could pick up Christian first and meet you there.

Ok Paul, Saturday is ON. Can you call me just before you leave home in the afternoon?
See you tonight at the Pumphouse. Unfortunately, right now the new boat doesn't fit behind my bike...

Cleo and I went in search for that new wave, late this afternoon.
I think we located the wave.
If so, the Sewer wave is much better...(in today's conditions).
I would say Sewer is better in almost all conditions that I ran it earlier this summer.
Much easier to access from the eddy. Nicer shape.
Based on the pictures at http://cityofottawawhitewater.blogspot.com/2008/09/deschenes-rapid-byob-wave.html (http://cityofottawawhitewater.blogspot.com/2008/09/deschenes-rapid-byob-wave.html), I think we were at the right place.
There is a long wood beam on the rocks next to the eddy.
Grahame joined us with his new/old Subaru and no kayak.
The wave seemed steeper then the pictures seem to show and my kayak a bit long for it, possibly...or simply I too unexperienced.
Cleo did an eskimo roll and said there was barely enough water and had to tuck in quick.
My prow hit the rock bottom just in front of the wave a couple of times. Very shallow; I would say 6in.
We worked the wave for about 30min, at the setting sun, under Grahame's attentive eye and tips.
At one point, I think he signaled for a loop...crazy dude!!!
OK, Grahame, I'll trade my cup holder for your windshield.
Cheers!

There was definitely some sort of wave. Looked pretty shallow. Saw Cleo roll off the back and he came up with all his teeth - so there's definitely some water there.
Not sure if it's worth the effort.
Yes, that was the ironic loop signal Louis. When you were going to be upside down, I was totally going to steal your cupholder.

yes, thats the wave , better with smaller boats, good for practicing spins and backsurfing , seems to bite and gnar at the boat more than an easy green (sewer) style wave but I find this extra effort this will make you a better paddler , I like to practice my sidesurfing here , I mean REALLY practice , lift my upstream knee extra up , brace hard , give it real effort even though its a small wave , When I spin I make sure to look at my stern as I come around , all the little things that you instantly forget when you are on huge waves/holes. I think this is what this wave is all about.
