Anyone interested in the Ottawa or Gatineau on Saturday or Sunday. I think the Ottawa is low enough now to run the Main. The middle would be a bit bumpy at points.

I might be interested on running the Main Sunday.
I paddled it yesterday and it was perrrfect! I'll confirm by tomorrow.
-
Awesome. Well get back to me and we'll see what we can organize for another run. I haven't been down the Main yet this year.
-
I could be interested in Sunday. What time are you thinking?

Shooting for Sat myself.

I would also be interested in Sunday on the Main!
Westgate shop center at 9AM!?

I've never done the Main at three and three quarters but I've done it around 2. Is there a big difference. I've seen Wakiki at that level, seemed big but I ferried across it. If you guys are really keen on Saturday I don't want to hold you back as I haven't fully committed. But keep me updated.

I'm open about the day, but would prefer tomorrow also. The Ottawa level is currently running at 3.5. There's nothing really there. There will be no play spot and a lot of the rapids will be washed out.
The Gatineau is running at 8 which is a not so bad level. My first choice would be the Gatineau if some people are interested. There's also no raft on the Gatineau which is a plus.
Otherwise, I would be up for driving to play at McCoys if the level stays at 3.

I'm in for Sunday also.

hi
At the levels 1-5 on gauge equates to not very stellar play on either channel, so presently it has to either drop/increase by 3.
Most folks don't like S-bend on the Middle cuz it's too frustrating, but small technical plays spots provide an opportunity to practice spinning in a hole rather than being spun by a larger hole/wave.
I'm good for a Sunday trip.

I'm interested in paddling Sunday July 5. Is the rendezvous Wastgate at 9?
-
My Sunday is already taken.
So, I'll be leaving off Westgate mall around 9h30am Sat. morning.
Good day all for Sunday.

The ouareau is running at 80cms. The bonniebrook at 9cms. Anyone interested. I might be in for the gatineau on sunday.

I was wondering what the plan is for Sunday. The river is at three and a half. I'm good for the middle. I've just never done the main at that level so I'm not entirely sure about it. But let me know and I'll mull it over,
-
Ok, well let's say 9AM Sunday at Westgate. We can check the level on the Ottawa and decide main or middle.

hi
Unfortunately it appears that I have caught the "bug" or some variation that is going around Ottawa ...
So I won't be on the river this weekend.
Have fun in the sun on Sunday ..

Louis Jake and I are just coming back from the Ottawa. The level was 4.5 today.

The level is almost at 5 according to the gauge page.

Quick report on our Sat stint at McCoy...
On Saturday, JacquesT, Annie and I parked and played at McCoy, in Corner wave and Left Side Horseshoe.
Level at 4.5
These 2 waves were quite a few notches above Champlain, in term of difficulty.
And a solid crop of free style playboaters were on site to leverage them.
Left Side Horse Shoe was quite dymanic and bouncing us around, when not pushing us over to the middle tongue.
I did at least one bounce that rattled my teeth almost out of their sockets.
Being at the bottom, with an easy eddy, we first spent time there.
We shared the wave with Grahame and a few others.
My All Star managed to execute some crazy moves...don't even know their names yet.
One of them: from backsurf, side roll down and back up and end up front surfing, still surfing? yeah!
Name? donno. Cool factor? high.
The eddy side was rougher and very steep, which caused many to flip.
At one point, my All Star jumped into that rough shoulder and I timidely followed into a fully aerial barrel roll; my head never touched the water.
Cool factor? Very high!
Moved to exploring Corner wave now - first time again for me.
Corner wave was tough to get in a first, but, wow, what a wave that was.
I can understand why top notch free style paddlers like Emily Jackson were there.
By the time I figured out how to get in, I was getting quite tired and was simply happy to get in and control my front surf.
Barry was a bit disapointed... But heck! I was quite happy about myself.
Once I managed to understand how to get in, I worked on controling my position within that wave, moving around in the wave, working on setting myself up for upcoming moves....
I think I did one single 360.
By that time it was about 5h00-5h30 and the cells in my pace-maker were getting very low.
Remaining energy was used to carry the faithful all Star up the trail and paddle back up to the car.
OK, some swimming was involved, but heck, 2 more firsts for me (Corner Wave and Left Side Horseshoe) and some very decent surfing in these harder conditions.
We completed this gerat day with a good cold beer at RiverRun...
