Exactly two years ago. Level was higher, and there was a lot of snow still!

Not looking good for this spring season, but at least we'll surf PushButton this summer!

Title: DeStrainerifying
Post by: JohnN on March 18, 2010, 06:53:13 PM
Hi All,

I'm planning on heading out to Champlain tomorrow Friday 19, around 2:30pm to try to remove some of the branches from that broken tree limb which are blocking the entrance to the first wave.  With the level rising (~3.6!) it will only become more difficult, so it needs doing now.

Rick is going to assist, but the more the merrier and maybe we can get a bit of paddling in afterwards.  I've got a branch saw/snipper on one of those extendable pole thingys, and a hand cutter, hopefully they will be suitable to cut the most offensive branches.  We'll use a rope to pull them free of the eddy if needed.  The larger stuff will have to wait for NCC, unless someone has and is willing to use a small chainsaw.

I was there today, looking not surfing, and there was a fair bit of ice coming down, some actually getting trapped in the branches.  Nasty view of seeing a strainer in action.

If anyone is free tomorrow, it should be entertaining to watch if nothing else..;)

Cheers,
John
