Title: Beginner paddling spots other than Palmers and Champlain

I have some friends who want to go paddling but it will be too crowded at Palmers this weekend due to Palmerfest. The other obvious choice is Champlain but it's also nice to get out of town. Does anyone know of good places similar to Palmers to take beginners to?

Middle Channel of the Ottawa is probably your best bet.
The Petite Nation would be a good choice if it had any water in it...
