Billy Harris is organizing a trip to Pucon, Chili, in the heart of a kayaking paradise.
The place really seems like a kayaking's paradise.
Lots for waterfalls into pools.
Also volcanoes to visit or just as back drop.
Hot springs to chill after the runs.

I keep saying to Mrs Santa that I have been a good boy.
I hope she believes me...

For over a month now Ive been contemplating the idea to put this trip on my credit card and ask if I can borrow a week off from next year since I have no holidays left for 2010. HAHA!
Sounds soooo awesome!

Well, we're back... trip ended and everyone is alive.
Getting used to the normal life again after 2 weeks of adventures...Pfiou...
The group was divided in 2 teams, but also ran together some of the classics;
- Lower Fuy (class III),
- Lower Trancura (class III),
- Truful Truful (class III)
glacier fed, straight from Hades with solidified lava over older lava fields and thick layers of ashes and crystallized basalt columns - and San Pedro (class III big water with one class IV rapid).
We might be the last group going down the San Pedro as they are building a dam on it.
With the "K team", we did harder runs in the IV/IV+ range while the other team worked on class III.
- The Machin (class IV) was a spectacular boulder field in a tight canyon,
- The Upper Trancura (class IV) was a pool and drop and we skip the big Meriman drop...
- The Upper Fuy (class IV+) had a 25 footer and 3 more in the 10-16 foot range
- and classic Upper Palguin (class IV+) basalt lava channel with a double drop technical 14 footer, a 10 footer and a forked 20 footer.
Billy posted entries in his blog; http://billyharrismission.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html (http://billyharrismission.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html);
Several of the photos in his blogs are from the team members or mine in fact, including all those in his "Arrival" entry.
You can also get a description of the runs through this online guide book; http://www.exchile.com/guide/index.php/San_Pedro_River (http://www.exchile.com/guide/index.php/San_Pedro_River) by navigating a bit.
I am still working on a long blog entry and playing around with my pictures and video footage.
Tomorrow is back to work...

Jack, my friend, save your pennies and pesos to come next year!
It cost about 30$/day to stay and eat at the Pucon Kayak Hostel.
And now check out on Facebook, I uploaded a lot of photos.

Still a lot of work to edit the video footage and collect photos from the others...

To give you a better taste of the adventures Sandra and I had over in Chile with Billy, here is my blog: http://wwkayakat50.blogspot.com/2011/02/adventures-in-chile-with-billy.html (http://wwkayakat50.blogspot.com/2011/02/adventures-in-chile-with-billy.html)
I broke my paddle in La Liona drop on the Upper Fuy/Fall Section (Class IV+).
Billy said it was just a 20 foot drop...no worries. Pictures prove he is a lying cheat. That thing was between 28 to 33 feet high.
As described in this online guidebook; http://www.exchile.com/guide/index.php/Fuy_River (http://www.exchile.com/guide/index.php/Fuy_River)
