Champlain Thursdays Starts this Week!!!!

Seriously, the water is extremely cold and the currents strong and this is not a good time for novice paddlers at all....

Only if you have a good roll (maybe you've been practicing in Costa Rica???) and if you have the proper cold weather attire.

Weather will be great! 11 Celsius. Champlain is rising ;D a bit, multiple waves with foam piles to surf. Not like Sewer where you have to wait one at a time. And Yes there is a bit of an eddy right now! And a rope on the wall if you fall back too far!

But not for beginners, unless you want to practice your rolls in the bottom eddy ( can you say ice-cream headache!!!!).
We'll meet after work (I will be there by 4ish) and paddle 'till dusk (7 ish) then go off to Whispers to plan our first descent!

I'll be at Champlain between 16:00 and 16:30 tonight (Thursday 17th). But I won't wear green. --C.

Hey folks... We arrived too late, the CTV camera crew had already left, but 2 guys in Jackson kayaks are shown surfing at Champlain at the 6:00 news on CTV last night,

Just click on the March 17 archive. The clip starts around 9 minutes. It's just not us...

HOWEVER, the attentive watcher will spot something sad at 1:03, during the section about the big fire in Beechwood. I posted a screen capture below. Do we know who's the unfortunate soul? A yellow Fun...
