Title: Something in Common
Post by: JackT on May 10, 2011, 12:58:14 PM
Well...

Jean-Nicolas and I both have something in common. We both lost our boats, pinned and submerged.

HOHW - race was good, my lines were strong and confident - awesome.

Upper Pet - The river was high, beautiful as always... words of wisdom: SCOUT YOUR RAPID. I made the mistake I preach against. I did not scout. I followed somebody's beta and should have checked myself.
Long story short: just before the take-out, after the crux, I got spun around by a hole and entered another hole backward. I rolled and pitoned in the hole and could not get out. I swam out and got out in flooded woods. Not a good spot.
The boat continued further and got pinned and submerged.

Anyways, here's to you J-N! Lets get my boat out (if it's still there) and I'll have my booty beer with you.

Jack (with injured pride).
P.S. I'll be at Bate's Island after work today.

The level is going down at a steady rate, it won't be long before the channel where the boat is dries up.
