Comin!
Will carpool with with Daniel ;D
-
Danel and Caroline - Interesting all carpooling? We can meet at my place (near Pink & Vanier), take the truck and head out the Quebec side.
-
Leaving from Aylmer also and not sure wether or not my buddy is coming.. will let you guys know in the PM! I only have 2 seats in my truck though.
-
OK with me, but wait for Daniel's answer, since he was suposed to be at my place at 9h15.
I live at 232 boul Alexandre-Tach?, could you swing by my place instead of me going to yours?
Also, how many people could you take (3 or 4?)
C.
-
I want to join, but won't know if I can until this evening.

Works for me.
I can take 4 in the truck with lots of room for boats (could fit up to 8 boat). Tall persons will not particularly enjoy the back seat, but its no worse then many cars.
-
ok see you at Caroline place 9:15 and I could take the back place in the truck!
going back outside working on the Camaro today yeah!
-
Great Todd!
I will see you at my place tomorrow morning!
J-N, if you want to carpool with us: meeting place is at my place at 9h15
232 boulevard Alexandre-Tach? in Hull.

As of now, it looks like I will be able to join.
And I am picking up a fluid solo after work, so I will be able to try it. I look forward to meeting you guys.
Does anyone have directions on where to meet?
I am coming from ashton, but should be able to bring at least 1 other person.

You should post on boatworks. Hopefully it shows up.
-
Do you remember putting it in the truck? Perhaps ut got into someone elses car? Ill check with cj and the other guys!
-
Caro, you had your paddle at the take-out for sure since I gave it to you there. You then put it in Todd's truck...I hope! If not, then it's still at the take out... When we got back to the put-in, all paddles that had been in the back of the truck were still there, even if the tailgate was open...was yours really in there, then? Such bad luck...
But all is not negative, to the contrary! J-N had a great squirt boat run, got great photos of it! The level was 160 (wathever units), the water cold, and the whole run was significantly harder than earlier this summer on July 2nd at 100 on the gauge. The Canyon (first rapid) was big, but thankfully not too pushy. Daniel went in among the first but emerged last... He stayed a bit longer than he wanted, so to speak. Caro got caught by the large curly pillow that formed at the big rock and wasn't able to deal with the boils around it. Had a swim, but it's an ok place to swim, no danger there. She ran the rest of the river without problem. And... at this level, dropping into Turbo might reshape the blades of you paddle, as CJ learnt. Altogether a nice day!

Christian: yes, I put the paddle in the truck at the take out. I was wondering if it may have gotten lost when we got to the put in, but you say that they were all in the truck then? Then it must have fallen off between the put in and the time when we got on higway 50, when John shouted at us that the Tailgate was open. In any case my name and number is on it. With chance I may see it again! In any case, I am now vowing to buy cheap paddles with straight shaft for a while ;-)
And, ya! I did spent a GREAT day on the river thanks to all of you guys, I had alot of fun. And mostly learned that it is quite OK to swim through big rapids, that there was no danger there to kill me, lol!
Take care everyone!!

Caro,
In the meantime you might want to get this :
H20 Straight shaft, 188 cms, 12 degree offset for 75$ OBO.
http://www.boatwerks.net/classifieds/list-ads/ads/view/873-h20-straight-shaft
VERY good deal IMO
Good Luck!

I was behind you guys the whole way out, and I didn't see anything fall off the truck, it was getting close which was why I was flashing my lights and waving at you lol.

The only place it could be then, according to me, would be at the put in since I did put it in the truck at the take out (that's where I removed the ''small shaft'' sticker from it ;-)) and John didn't see it fall out. I will post something on Boatwerks tonight!
Thanks everyone for helping me locate this paddle... given it was an almost new paddle; I wouldn't mind getting it back... and not having to purchase one!
BTW, jee, thanks for the info on the H2O paddle!
Cheers,
C.

Caro....
You're having the same kind of season I am. Mine started by blowing the gasket on my dry top and replacing the whole top. Next I left my Snapdragon skirt at the RR take out and it disappeared into thin air - had to replace it. Shortly after that I lost my paddle at Pushbutton. A paddler who had come to help was headed straight for my paddle but didn't pick it up like we assumed he would. A few seconds later it was gone, never to be seen again. Replaced that as well.
Doesn't make anything suck any less for you, but misery loves company :'(

Caro, since the Rouge is mainly paddled by Montreal people, make sure you post something, in addition to Boatwerks, on Quebec forums:
http://www.quebeckayak.qc.ca/kayak/forum-de-discussion
http://www.k1c2.ca/forum/index.php
http://quebecwhitewater.com/fr/forum
You can also try your luck on Boater Talk,

Good luck!
BTW, I have an extra paddle you can borrow... Just don't lose it!
