Title: Spring Paddling: Mississippi River (Playfairville section) Saturday March 17
Post by: Bill Schlarb on March 15, 2012, 10:21:33 PM
Hi folks,

For those interested, several of us are planning to run the Mississippi R., just west of the village of Lanark.
The level is medium at 50 cms and it should be a class 2-3 run. The weather forecast is for 16C and sunny.
Plans are to meet at the takeout (Playfairville Bridge) at 12:00 noon and set up a shuttle from there.
Given the current water temps, cold water paddling gear is more than just a good idea...

GPS co-ordinates:  Put-in: 44.974696,-76.45135  (Sheridan Rapids Rd. @ Iron Mine Rd.)

Takeout: 44.96996,-76.409272  (Playfairville Bridge on Regional Rd. 12 west of Lanark)

If you have questions, give me a call after 7:00PM Friday at (613) 224-8507

Bill

And for Paul, it's BYOP--P for a certain french-canadian delicacy made with curds...

Paul, if you show up at my house at 10:00, things should be fine.

As Daniel mentioned, the shuttle is indeed shorter than the run, see below!

It's Class II-III but I'll bring my big boat, got to get re-acquainted... --C.

Christian, I left you a phone message. Let's meet at Wesgate Shopping Centre, easier and more central for others to join us. Jeremy's going to be there tomorrow morning at 10:30 and I left Jelly a message.
Others wanting to carpool meet us there, in the back of the Shopping Centre. 15 minute rule In effect :o!

Lol, well due to popular demand, and the fact that champlain is at a great level, looks like I Will be heading to champlain tommorow.

Indeed the going is good at Champlain-a nice wave and surprisingly empty. I have spend couple of hours there this p.m. and circumstances permitting (St.Pat's and all) am thinking of going back tomorrow sometime after lunch.
