While we are talking about posting pictures for some reason I have trouble posting pictures, because when I press post it just stays on the the same page and nothing happens.
-
ANy kind of beta on these rivers would be greatly appreciated.
We are thinking of doing them again this weekend.

Martin, the system is set so that an individual picture can not be larger (on file) than 5 MB. Unfortunately, if it is bigger, the system may not warn you but instead just freeze.
We are using an outdated version of the forum software. The website administrator is currently working on a new forum that will not have these problems. In the mean time, if you have a big picture, use the option of 'Resizing' or 'Resampling' the image to a lower resolution so that the image file is less than 5 MB. A good free image viewing program that allows to do this is IrfanView:

Hope this helps.

THANKS DAVE FOR SPOTTING MY MISTAKE!
Beta: Mississipi river Playfairville section is Class II, no scouting necessary. Approx. 6 km long, with good scenery. Last Saturday the level was not too far above the minimum runnable. The higher, the better so to speak. Easy shuttle that is shorter than the run!
Beta: Carp river near Kinburn is Class II+, no scouting really necessary but good river reading skills required. River significantly narrower and faster flowing than the Mississipi. Approx. 5 km long, with good scenery. Last Saturday the level was very good. The higher, the better too, so to speak. Easy shuttle that is a bit longer than the run!
See photos for locations of PI and TO for both rivers. --C.

Greatly appreciated!

Do you think they will still be runnable this weekend with the weather we have been having? Are the levels posted online somewhere?

The Carp is on its way down
CARP RIVER NEAR KINBURN [ON] (02KF011)

The Mississippi is still on its way up

I think that something went astray on Christian's Carp map. He'd have you paddling upstream and on a different section from what we did this past Saturday, Funny trick that, but it is a little early for April Fools.
The image below includes the section that we paddled on Saturday. We put-in on Carp Rd and took-out on Galetta Side Road. We only ran the lower (more difficult) half of the standard run, and I'm not certain to the put-in for the upper half.
Levels for that river are seriously dropping and I would be skeptical about this one being a good option for the coming weekend:

Hey Jer,
Any pics yet?

Ha! Dave, you got me screwing up. Hey, I am not a geographer... I'll update the picture!
-
Thanks for all the info!
So it looks like it will be a mississippi run, or there is always the black, or the salmon on hwy 7.
-
I'd be in for a Mississippi run- what day? Sunday might be a bit warmer....

We might go do the salmon on hwy 7 instead, still talking it out.
Although we could do the salmon on sat, and then the mississippi on sunday.
either way I will let you know.
-
Let's decide Thursday, then!
-
With he laurentians and a bunch of other interesting rivers flowing , if you guys are aiming for the missisipi and carp and such.. im definately out. Spring is going to be short this year and I want to make the most of it! Achigan, BonnieBrooke, Simon, Ouest, Diable, Torrent Bellefeuille are all clear of ice and fully running...Ill be heading that way.
-
My plan so far is to do the salmon on saturday and the mississippi on sunday.
-
Cool. Im in for the mississippi on Sunday
-
We're doing the Salmon on Saturday for sure now. Let me know if you want to come; we can organize a carpool from the east end.
-
Not looking good for me on Saturday but should be alright for Sunday if anyone wants to go out.
-
Looks like we are turning our mission into a weekend long hwy 7 odyssey.
-
If you are going to run the salmon or beaver creek on sunday, I will probably drive up and meet you then. Just let me know.
Cheers

Here is the directions from the mackfest page:

We are going to be running beaver creek off HWY7 on sunday.
A stainer alert has been posted on Boatwerks for the Beaver. Nothing that should keep one from going there; just something to be aware of:
