Martin & myself (Richard) are spending the weekend at my daughter's place in Morin Heights this weekend & are looking for a river to paddle in the area.
Some of the possible choices may be Rouge White Dog , Rouge Canyon, La Simon (??? on sections).
If anyone is interested in hooking up with us, we plan on paddling on Saturday, let us know.
Also if anyone has paddled La Simon before, we would be interested to know what it was like etc, as it is only 5 minutes away from Morin Heights.
There is a video on the Quebec whitewater site

We are open to any suggestions or trips in the area.

Wyszard,
Some of us are planning on running something in the Laurentians area Saturday as well.. Most likely the Achigan or the Bonniebrooke.

The rouge Canyon is wayyyyyy too high as it is over 500 cms... We ran it at 350 cms last year and its was GNARLY! I also ran it an 400 cms in a raft... Even bigger. Heres some photos at 350

The white dog sections is one rapid really at this level...White dog wave is pretty big right now. im talking Buseater size...

There is also the rapid under the bridge which is Class IV+ at this levels with 3 holes bigger than phils hole one after the other....Ive swam them last year...Was under for 40 seconds and touched bottom.
Id say your best bet would be with us or the Petite Nation which is at 55 cms at the moment!

Heres another shot of the WhiteDog Wave yesterday at 540 cms!
Such an amazing, yet scary wave to surf...I surfed it last year in both a kayak and a raft. You either drop in, or make a ferry across this MASSIVE hole to the green shoulder. HAHA

Saaayyy Whaaatttt!!! Who shot the POV on Polar Bear's Club? Was that left line about 3/4 of the way thru between the posts and OVER the cable suspended above the water as dangerous as it looked? It looked like a 'lucky you weren't decapitated' line. Yikes!

Kelly, thats most definately NOT the line. He missed his eddy and corrected his angle in order to not drop in backwards. Couldve ended way worst hahaha. Dont know the guy either.

Well we did the Simon river. First rapid there is a nice pour over that Richard goes sideways over and gets stuck under and swims but luckily it ended in a pool. Then a couple small rapids later the big stuff arrive the class 4 that bill told us not to do, so Richard went down first flips over and can't roll up because it is too rocky. So he swims down a class 4 rapid for about 2km get beat up by rocks. He finally gets to shore and I am left alone going down and then the hardest part of the rapids come, and I try to negotiate them and I did really well but then I get out the boat to see Richard because the run was finished, and we walk down and see his boat pinned in the middle of the river against a giant rock. :o We were shocked so we had call Richards son in law (Professional climber) to come, and luckily he had all the stuff and we are able to get the boat unpinned from the rock. So Richards boat is a bit beat up but so is Richard. But after, at home we looked at the map and around the corner were the boat was pinned was a class 4+ 5 rapid. So now where you are going on the Simon river. Btw we did not now how far the class 4 rapids were.

WOW, that's some story. Glad Richard is okay :o!
Paul :)

Yes and that we saved his boat because when it was pinned you could see the current bending the boat.
-
Wow. I hope he's not too shaken... It was only the two of you there?
-
Yes but there were people who ran it before us.
