What a blast we had yesterday at Pushbutton with Billy Harris! Not only is Billy an excellent teacher, he is quite entertaining also. Also kudos to Billy's teaching partner Graham Ball.
Within 2 hours our intrepid crew was doing first time surfs, side surfs, back surfs and multiple spins on Pushbutton!
I believe that there were a few club members that expressed interest in a playboating clinic that were not able to make it to yesterday's event, so I will schedule another one if there are at least 3 interested participants. Cost for us was $30 all in for a 3 hour session, added to the generous $10 club subsidy. (We decided to tip Billy handsomely since he has a recent new mouth to feed...) :-)
Tentative date/time for another session would be Wed Jul 11 or 18, 5PM.
Let me know ASAP if interested and when available.

I would be intrested-good for either date, but find it easier not to plan to far in advance. (Intrested in spinning, backsurf).

I'd be interested. Are you locked into Wednesdays though, a Thursday session would be much better for me.
-
Date is totally negotiable. Weekday evenings are preferable, given Billy's availability. I picked a mid week day to reduce the crowd at Pushbutton, which worked quite well - it was basically just the 6 of us there for the last session. Weekend evenings might also be doable.
Pick a date, let us know! You can check when Billy is available via his email: b3harris@gmail.com Tell him that Mike from the CdB is trying to set up another session.

I am interested but would it be asking too much for a weekend event? Some of us still work during the week (not by choice)
Cheers,
Adam

Please negotiate a date amongst yourselves and confirm with Billy: b3harris@gmail.com.

Adam, being a poor working class person myself, I might be interested in joining you for a weekend session with Billy.

I would be interested in this. Weekdays are good for me.

Since several of us will be on the Ottawa for Mini-Beast this upcoming weekend, it may be a good opportunity for another playboating clinic with Billy. I emailed him and he said that he would be available this Saturday at 2PM for a clinic at Pushbutton. Come learn how to spin and then practice all weekend long!
I will book this if there are at least 3 interested participants - let me know ASAP!
Cost is $34 - $10 (assuming $10 club subsidy still in effect)

Ha! Working class? Maybe that's what the Conservatives (spelled R-E-F-O-R-M) have in mind for a neurologist. What's with the handbasket and where are we heading... Your next job (cause who needs neurologists when we got tar-oops-oil sands: we're a petro-dollar nation, North Texas) will consists of lifting cargo on top of oil workers' pick-up trucks roof racks. You might be entitled to a step ladder...
This reminds of a conference a few years ago. Heard at the bar: "Who are all those guys?" "It's the American Physical Society I think." "Oh yeah? They dont't look too physical to me..."

I will hang out with you guys and gals for the clinic.
So the question is: should we run the whole river *and* do the clinic?
The last clinic was definitely a good 3 hour workout.
Options:
a) run whole river and do clinic. If this is what most people want to do I suggest a non-stop paddle from Pushbutton to takeout after we are done the clinic.
b) run from top and take out at the Lorne after the clinic
c) park and play at the Lorne with clinic only.
Please post your preference so that we can plan shuttle accordingly.

I would be interested in option a) run river, stop at Pushbutton for clinic and then continue on with the rest of the river....
Just a suggestion.
Adam

Same for me.
Dani
-
Anymore room for this?
i'd be up for option a)
Bob

option a) for me

I would be interested if the session was later in the day because 2pm on a Saturday the river is full. Is there any chance to push the time forward a little.
-
I like option a) also.
-
Think I'll cap this at 6 (same as last time). Time remains 2PM. $10 club subsidy only available
to those that did not participate last time (as per discussion with the club treasurer).
Martin - you can hang with us for the clinic if you want - I'll try to negotiate a frequent spinner free pass for you... lol!
Note: I have no idea how crowded Pushbutton will be at that time, but remember that Billy's clinic is advertised as 3 hours or exhaustion. I think we were exhausted after 2.5 hours last time.

Ok sign me up, if I still can be. Yes I was exhausted last time but I had no food on the river.
-
If I am signed up, option a sounds good.
-
Daniel D just gave up his spot, so one spot left. Currently:
Adam N.
Bob M.
Dani P.
Dave J.
Liz E.
Mike R. (observer for this one...)
Martin K. (frequent spinner discount - free)
Please let me know ASAP if there are any changes; I will confirm with Billy this evening.

Is there no frequent swimmer discout???
-
Me thinks you can afford the $24... We'll get Billy to eliminate your swims. :-)
Please bring cash to the event. See you at 11:30 River Run.

Ok, ok, it was a good clinic, and I did not swim (nor spin) during the clinic, but too bad there was no money back guarantee - I DID swim today again... But I have to admit I did not have the guts to try Billy's magic roll in Norms. Next time...

Dani i'm very impress by your long back surf follow by a back loop in babyface good rod?o you did!!!
-
Ah, merci Bastien, maintenant je vais dormir mieux et r?ver de Babyface...
Mais surtout merci beaucoup pour ton encouragement hier - your motivation kept me going and trying and trying and rolling and fighting and every once in a while even having the occasional luck of the beginner, pretending to surf & play (what a word for such a hard work!)...

It was a great session. Thanks Mike for organizing it. Billy is an excellent instructor and we all had a good time.
And Christian, maybe when Dani is busy lifting all that heavy cargo you were ranting on about, she might just drop it on your head and then you would need a neurologist.
