Hi Bill!

I have never run the Gat before and although id like a higher water more challenging run, im sure I could have fun on there..Even if all ive got to paddle is my creeker! well I hope! hahaha

Ive got to be in Hull for 6:30 as I have a meeting so if that can be done and if i could carpool with someone, I would be keen!

It looks like Martin & I are going to carpool with Jean-Nicolas & CJ.

So I estimate we need 2.5 hours to get to Bonnet Rouge, so if J-N needs to be in Gatineau for 6:30 pm we need to be off the river by 3:30 to 4:00pm, is this reasonable ?

We would need to start a bit earlier for J-N to make his date in town at 6:30; remembering that the shuttle is about 20 min. each way.

I am interested in joining you guys but will very likely not be able to use my own car since I'm in the process of trading it in. Unless I manage to buy a new car today (wishful thinking)...
Dani

We can share a ride and use my car, give me a call tonight

Martin,
I'm interested in joining the run and taking up your car pooling offer, so as to leave my gas-guzzler behind.  With it,  I can get myself and boat into Gatineau to meet you, but need a rendez-vous place.  I live near Champlain Bridge.  Please phone me at 613 759-8348 and propose details including where I can meet you.  If there is some one you'd like me to pick up on the way, I can do that too.  If you want a beer or 2 after the river,  I can drive back.   My driving record is such that I have the highest rating for insurance purposes.

I have no time restrictions.  I'm open to playing extra at Bonnet Rouge, at the end of the day, when it is possible to surf there.

I suggest use of the lower free put-in, just above the island immediately above the 1st rapid.  Use of the lower free put-in saves 3 km = 1/2 hour plus of flat water paddling,  which might be important to accommodate John Cyr.   As far as car break-ins,  they appear rare with valuables out-of-sight.  While I've heard of the odd one over the last 30+ years, especially on festival weekends,  I've heard of many more at the Ottawa put-in and take-outs.

I am interested in coming along on this trip.  I am waiting to hear back from Justin as to whether he is available/wants to go too.  I can drive and can take at least one other person or would be happy to hop in someone else's car (more likely take my own car if Justin is coming).

People could DR it in 2 hours (or less) if they know the lines and right channels to take, but that would be a waste of play potential. Being a club trip it will be more like 5 hours plus.

Google gives the drive from Ottawa to Maniwaki as 2H10M; so you should figure ~2hr to Gatineau on a Sunday Evg if all goes well. You would definitely be pushing things with a 10:30 start.

Richard and I just talked it over and we've decided to move up the meet time at Bonnet Rouge to 10:00.
This will make the day a bit less rushed.

I wouldn't mind coming, but I haven't been there before. Any chance I could get some more specific directions about where to meet?

Hi Randy,

Here are the GPS co-ordinates for the takeout at Bonnet Rouge: 46.280707,-75.922565
Give yourself about two hours driving time from downtown Ottawa.

As a suggestion, Martin (Craig) is looking to carpool and has been there before.
He posted earlier in this thread

LarryM, Martin, Justin and I are coordinating carpooling amongst ourselves.  We might be able to accommodate 1 or 2 more.  Justin will know whether he can go by 10 pm tonight.  If Justin is going, Larry will take his car with Justin, and may be open to taking another, leaving from near Baseline at Woodroffe.   Otherwise LarryM will meet me at my place 297 Lanark at 7:30am Saturday.  I, possibly with LarryM, will then meet Martin at 8 am, at the McDonald's, NW corner of Blvd St-Joseph @ Blvd St-Raymond, just west of the Blvd St-Raymond exit (Casino Exit) of highway 5.  If someone else wants to car pool, but has a car that can handle 2 to 3 others, he/she can contact me ideally before 10pm tonight to make arrangements.

This is Martin's first outing with the CdB.

For changes after 10 pm tonight, please telephone me at 613 759-8348.

Bill Thanks for organizing.  Hope the above lightens your organizational load.

Someone's shirt ended up getting left in my car after paddling Sat.  It's a blue synthetic t-shirt, brand Avia, size large. Let me know if it belongs to you and we can make arrangements for you to get it back.
