Hi all.
The film crew that filmed us last time at Remic needs a little bit more footage, and the plan is to complete filming this Sunday from 11:30 to 14:30. Everyone is invited to come surf a nice safe wave, and refreshments afterwards. This time they are giving me a small amount of money, which I will gladly use for refreshments for those who participate! Meet in the Remic parking at 11:30.

A smooth surf wave in the middle of the river, you get back on it by litterally walking your boat back up in knee-deep water to a mini-eddy created by a pile of rock. See below for location. Park at 'Parking' near 'Statues'... You will like it! --C.

I'll join if anyone can pick me (& boat) up on the way there!
(I'm on Gladstone, just two blocks from Parkdale... a whole 3km from the Remic Parking lot! :)

Thanks everybody for making it a success! Because of the recent rain, the level had gone up a bit and the wave was not as stable and well-formed as the last time we were there, and wasn't easy to catch at all. So congratulations to Luc who managed to back-surf the wave--it was his first time there, and it's only his second paddling season! And to Paul and Martin who had a party surf, both on the wave! We even had Sindy in a C1 and Ann with her big canoe. I'm sure I am forgetting a few feats.
One feat I should be proud of too is that we also managed, with tip, to spend at Whispers afterwards every penny of the 150$ stipend that I am supposed to receive from the television production company. I hope they don't forget to send it...
For those who weren't there, they had hired the services of a rescue company from around here which brought the camera man and sound man in a Zodiac right next to the wave for filming! Then Brian, the camera man, waded down to set his tripod holding a 50000$ rental camera in the shallow waters to get an amazing filming angle! This is clearly a first for Remic wave, as there is essentially no photo documenting people surfing there from up close. They deserve some praise for doing this, as they are not used to whitewater like we are!
The shooting was finished with me riding my mountain bike fast next to a GoPro on the ground, this should look good as well (as long as you don't look at my face).
There are more episodes to film, so I do not know when it will air. I will get in touch with them, and let everyone know once I do. And I suppose that once it is aired, the show may be archived on the broadcaster's website for some time. But since the production company owns the rights to the images, I don't think it will be possible to get them directly. Certainly not before it airs on tv!
Again, thanks everyone who came surf a nice wave right here in our city! Cheers.
