Hi all!
Here's the idea: a camping trip, Friday-to-Sunday in the summer on nearby Lac du Poisson Blanc. Take Friday afternoon off, drive up to the put-in (45 min. north of Ottawa) with floating craft of your choice (sea kayak or canoe recommended), camping gear, food etc. Paddle up to a big campsite (reservation might be required) and set up camp for the weekend. Saturday explore the many islands and cliffs, return for dinner. Sunday take down camp and paddle back to the cars.
I have done the same trip many times, in groups of two to twenty people, and the logistics are very simple. No shuttle, no portage. Camp is set up only once. This would be a change from our day runs and an opportunity to paddle something different. It is a very beautiful lake, quiet, and if the wind blows, it could be even challenging to paddle! But it is essentially a kids-friendly trip.
Possible dates are anytime, but later in the summer is better as the water is warmer, water level lower (i.e. bigger beaches) and bugs non-existent. Anyone interestd, let's talk about it!

That is a great idea Christian.
I would like to mention that there is la parois de l'?l?phant on which are a few climbing routes (5.7 to 5.9 as I recall).
Which can add an extra activity to the weekend!

Oh yeah, Great idea, I've done it many times too, it's a great journey. There is, indeed, a rock cliff with a few bolted anchors. I'd be happy to set up top rope for you guys, climbing is as much fun as paddling only you can progress at your own pace. Chris, you can count me in if this event falls on one of my familly weekend, Anabelle and Katia would really enjoy it. My summer schedule is not finalized yet but the 2 last weekend of July seems to be a good target for me. I want to be everywhere else than the crowded Granby Zoo or La Ronde on those weekends. ;)

If I can make it, I can join Cindy in setting up an anchor and belay a few enthusiastic climbers!

If the dates are OK (When will you know ?) & no conflict, then count me & Sheila in with our touring kayaks.
