Post by: Markx on April 12, 2013, 06:01:08 PM
Hi,

I am running the St-Regis silver staircase this Sunday with a buddy in Cornwall.
There 1-2 spots in my car available. Level wil be around 1150 CFS (3 feet)

There is 2 descriptions of the river:

Sounds like a good idea. What would be the logistics? Meeting same place/time as Saturday's trip (Ultramar on Prince of Wales at 8:30)? I will see the guys who run it tomorrow, to find out about levels!

Christian,

Did you want to carpool? I can drop by your place Sunday morning.

I told Denis I would meet him in cornwall for 11AM on Sunday. It would make sense for us to meet at the Ultramar on Prince of Wales at 9:15 in order to meet Denis on time.

Can we leave a car at the Ultramar?

Not a good idea to leave a car at the gas station, but it has been done in the past... But my house is on the way, Marc G can stop by. I will talk to those running it today to find out how it is.

Good, real good. I haven't been on that much non stop white water in a long time. A bit chilly at the end but well worth it. Others can fill you on the "fun " they had, I wasn't there to see it.

Ok, we'll try that. Marc G., call me. There was 'adventure' on the St-Regis today, so to speak...

Everyone, please be careful! There is a strainer (straight log) across two rocks somewhat river left about 45min to 1h of paddling from the takeout. It's in class 2 stuff and looks JUST like any other obstacle and small hole. I went in it like I had done for hundreds of others that day and this one ended up being a strainer. I was lucky enough to pass underneath it but broke my paddle in the process. Another guy wasn't so lucky and got caught in it. He was very close to cutting his skirt off but was freed.

I posted a video on YouTube if you can get to it before crossing the border.
