Title: ? la p?che River (Exploration and first D)

I've been contemplating to do a first D on this one. The put in would be where the river gets close to road 366 near Ste-C?cile de Masham and the take out in Wakefield on chemin Mill . There is 2 topo line that cross the river which suggest that the river drops 40 meter on its lengh with most rapid being in the middle of the run. There is plenty of water on the class 2-3 below the waterfall in Wakefield which suggest that there should be enough water (but not too much).

I want to take a day off tommorow (or afternoon off) to go trying that out. Any taker?
Also if anybody has any sort of data on this run or know somebody that has run it, please let me know.

Will go early on friday, 9AM corner of Des grives and De la Ros?e. 20 Degree outside should be perfect for this run.

Post by: waverider on April 17, 2013, 03:27:45 PM: Friday would be good for me. Some areas looks like it could be hard to scout. I haven't paddle much in the past few years cause of my disk hernia probleme but my skills are good. I Don't do drop.

Post by: JohnCyr on April 20, 2013, 10:23:50 AM: Yep. Flood stage. Wayyyy higher than in the pics. Water in masham near the put in bridges was 12 inches from touching the bridge. Hardly scoutable as the river s bends every 150 yards an there was little to no eddy to catch. Alsothete was Alot of wood and log jams to watch out for. Portages were hell in the canyon where the ledges were inthe pictures.. The holes were massive and there was wood. Walking up and down icy 100 foot cliffs and riverbanks is not fun. The mill drop was a little high and there was a log jam in the left channel where all the water pushes. At least that little rapid below the mill to the gat river made the run worth it but if youre into the sane kind of river class 3 stuff go to the petite nation. Water is less stinky, less flats to paddle and scenery is nicer :)

There is a good trail not far away on river left. Although the ice near the river would of been an issue.

I was up that way yesterday and looking at things through Wakefield. I'm thinking that the level wouldn't of been much higher than when I was in there taking the pics. Pictures never do a river situation justice.
