I've done the Main before but never the Middle. Could someone tell me at what gauge level the Middle gets interesting and not too flooded? The levels were at around 18 last week, I suppose it has come down a bit. I'd like to have a good run but also a bit of play as well. Thanks

18 is quite good for the Middle Channel. Many play spots. --C.

Few of us are doing the Middle on Sunday (June 2). I am not sure what level it is at. We will take what it has to offer.
Meeting at the put-in at 11:00.

Today 17.5 on the gauge. Easy-peasy, perfect for a beginner. Phil's Hole was surfed by a few, nothing else beside Sattler's. This is a good level to get acquainted with this rapid, it will get much nastier later this summer...
Little Trickle was straightforward with the nasty little hole on the left flushed, no problem there. Angel's kiss begins to form but eddy hard to climb. Butterfly friendly but nothing to play there. But the two waves below Garvin's were nice! Big, steep, trashy, but zero consequence.
Lower No-Name consisted of only two big waves to negociate, and the other channel parallel to it was a straight-shot down the middle with a surf hole at the bottom, no stress if you miss your ferry after Upper No-Name. Lower No-Name will become more hectic as level goes down, but now the bay below is so high that you see the entire rapid as you enter it.
As I said, good for beginners with no bad surprise.

Thanks ChristianG for the report!!! :)

14-16 is the magic number. All the playboaters will be on minibus, so you will only have to share the middle with the PRR.
Angel's Kiss, Butterfly, Lower Garvin's, Upper No-Name, Rocket Wave and Big Smoothie are all at excellent levels.

Level is 17 3/4 this am
