There appears to be a lot of flat water (see below)! 2 km from the put-in (below some waterfall?) to the beginning of rapids, then 1.5 km to get to the take-out. In comparison, the distance between McKoy's and Iron Ring is 2.5 km. Is it worth it in between? Bill, Jim, have you run this section before?

I have done this section and there is one really cool rapid that I would like to do again.
As we discussed there are two put-ins - the long one on the lake and
the short one which is dependent on access.
The long one does have a lot of flat water to start out on.
Bill comment on the flat water once the rapids start.
I will see what the impact of taking Friday off is - will let you know Thur.
Jim,

Spoke to Daniel a little while ago and he's upgraded the difficulty level of the trip.
Here are some pics located on Panoramio in very rough order as you go down the river:

Looks interesting still. I'm in unless unforeseen crrrrap. Now, are times realistic? It looks like it's a somewhat longer drive there... --C.

Wow, that looks awesome, and just 10 minutes from my house.
wish I could make it.

hi
We ran it in 2007 and 2008 ...
Water levels 3.44m and 3.62m Scitech page Mississipi at Ferguson falls according to my notes
I remember ... flat water
Some ran the Ragged chute falls
Most ran the RR channel after the falls
I don't remember running the second drop in the series of pictures
We bought access passes because it's in park of some sort, but not certain if that is still true.
Ah it's such a blur in my memory bank

Ah yes, old magnetic core memories:
"The process of reading the core causes the core to be reset to a "zero", thus erasing it. This is called destructive readout."

The access Larry is vaguely remembering is via Bush Road near Ompah. We bought interior access permits at the general store in Ompah because we were parking on Crown land. Then there was a huge flatwater paddle across the top of Crotch Lake to the Dam at King Lake (people bring sea kayaks to Crotch). Portage around the dam into King and then another flat stretch. This was necessary one time that we could not get access through the campground near the dam on Morrow Rd. It was closed and gated. This time of year it should not be a problem. Daniel's map shows entry via Morrow Road at King's Lake. This cuts out Crotch completely. Less shuttle, less flatwater. Much shorter day than Larry's last time. Fun memories of this river. Introduced to us by John Lemieux. Some great drops in there. Good times. You should have a blast.
I hope you post a trip report.

Jim Forbes and I will be at Eagleson.

It was a nice day on that river, Our guide from Kingston (a friend of Bastien) have been recrute has a new member of Cbd.
The Morrow road is 10min gravel road well maintained by M. Morrow. He charged $6/car and sometime 6 for the shuttle car.
At that low level 25 cms at Ferguson falls (http://www.mvc.on.ca/levels-graph-option/graph-option-stream-gauges.php) we did not portage any rapids and we did somes falls or part of it. At that low level, portage was easy and a lot of eddy but quite sure that it is not the same at higher level because its a narrow river.
We start around 11 : am and went out around 14 :30
1-Kings Falls at the outlet of kings lake
We did it on right side
2-Otter rapids (before Otter lake)
We did it
3 Ragged chutes falls( after Otter lake)
We portage the first section pic 1
4 Ragged falls 2
Jim and Christian on the right
Me on the left
5 Ragged falls 3
We portage pic 2
Take out (44.940456,-76.687725)
put in (44.938800,-76.773834

I surprisingly see that the Mississippi is still rising:

Well at least that is the case for Dalhousie Lk and below. There it is the highest it has been all Spring and still climbing:

Man I would love to go with you guys but I can't unfortunately! But I would love to do this part of the Mississipi in the next week of so though. Does anyone have a map of this section with the rapids description? If not, is it possible to get a more detailed description in writing here? That would be greatly appreciated! I'm might be able to take next Thursday off to try this section of the river with some of my buddies. If I do, I will do a post if anyone else want to join us! Thanks.
