Hello everyone,
I'm keen on attending the King of Clubs 2013. It's being held on Sunday, September 1 at Ottawa River Run.
http://www.whitewaterontario.ca/index.php/community/events/king-of-clubs
I've heard grumblings from various other clubs that CdB hasn't had a very strong showing in the past... I'd like to change that.
Who would be willing to participate and help me out? I'd like to surprise everyone with a decent group!
Please add your names in the list and append to the bottom of your message so that we know who is coming.
1. Luc Lafreni?re

Not me, as I've told the PRR (and anyone who listens) Beaverfest is a can't miss.....when they change the dates for KoC, I'm in lol

Christian and I are possibly attending pending participation and weather. Confirmation Thusday at Whispers.
Jacques and Christian

Ha! Previous message was written by Jacques, using my iPhone and some beer. But the general gist is correct. Just the signature is funny...
-
Well, even if Jacques and Christian participate... that is not a lot of people.
Considering these circumstances... it's looking like I'll be joining Jon Ward and heading to Beaverfest myself.
-
I'm not sure what's involved but I'll probably be there (one way or another)

OK, so after talking with Bill, it really sounds like I'll have more fun on the Beaver the weekend following Beaverfest which is what I've decided to do.
With that in mind, I'm now around Ottawa this weekend and therefore would really like to give this King of Clubs thing a chance!
Jacques & Christian have indeed re-confirmed with me on the phone. I'm in too.
We need at least TWO more people (one of which HAS to be a woman). Anybody willing to participate on Sunday? Especially any woman? Annie, Caro, Jon, etc. ?
Adam, since you'll be there, could you not join us and participate in the event? It sounds like a blast!

I am camping at River Run this wkend and am a female. Let me know.
Cheers,

Awesome!
So we have:
1. Luc Lafreni?re
2. Jacques Tejeda
3. Christian Gigault
4. Jon Ward (his club fee is overdue... *nods in disapproval* but he will meet us Thursday night with payment and waiver in hand)
5. Gwenne Morris (at least ONE woman is participating!!! Hooray!)
So we've met the minimum team requirements. If anyone else would like to participate, show signs of life here and we'll organize later on.
We're planning on meeting Thursday night to practice at the very least our Z drag and plan the events a bit.
Further details on this are forthcoming (where and when to meet).

I'm looking to paddle this weekend in some shape or form. Where and when are you meeting on Thursday?
-
I've just sent an email with further details to everyone here (including Andrew). Check your inboxes.

Well the group has grown some more. We now have 8 people representing the club.
1. Luc Lafreni?re
2. Jacques Tejeda
3. Christian Gigault
4. Jon Ward
5. Gwenne Morris
6. Steve Turner
7. Andrew Kelly
8. Martin Kowalski
Most of us are camping at River Run Saturday night and Sunday. I'll personally be there from Friday night onwards. Cardboard boat building is apparently schedule for Saturday night. The trick will be to keep the boat dry until the competition.... I hear cardboard doesn't like water. Sounds like Little Rider aka Martin Kowalski is perfect for running that thing down the Lorne. Mouhahaha that's what happens when you're a good boater AND light.
Wish us luck!

The more the merrier.

Actually Luc, you may have to take Martin off your list as he is coming home on Saturday afternoon, originally I was going to get him on Sunday, but my wife has taken over the car & also his dad would like to see him this weekend, so am getting him on Saturday instead. Sorry about that.

Roger thanks

Hey Luc, change of plans, It turns out that I have to work tomorrow, so, Martin will be staying up at Riverrun until Sunday, so it looks like you can use the little weasel in your cardboard boat after all. Please do us all a favour & send the boat & Martin into Phil's, he needs to learn how to swim.
Good luck to you all.

Sweet!

Thanks to Luc for organizing the KofC events. It was really fun.
