A group of us are planning to paddle the Beaver on Sept. 7 to avoid the crowds on Labour Day Weekend.
According to American Whitewater, both the Taylorville and Eagle section will have releases that day.

American Whitewater has revamped their river description pages.

Beaver Taylorville section, Class III-IV 1.3 km long, do 2-3 times during the release. A very good introduction to creek-type rivers, suitable for intermediate paddlers in creek boats:

Beaver Eagle section, Class V approx.  300 m long, do 2-3 times during release. Expert run, river drops more than 30 m over 300 m--it's really steep:

Note: it is an expert section, but the last drop, a friendly 4 m waterfall, can be run by intermediate paddlers multiple times, so it's worth going there just for that!

Anyone doing an up and down?

Hey JC,

What's an up and down?

I'm game for a visit down there this weekend if it includes more than one day of paddling.

I thought that this weekend was the reason that the CDB skipped this KofC thing but oh well. Any ways I'm game lets see what comes together.

hi

Correction: the CdB as an entity has not skipped the KoC. The club has paid the entry fee so members can organize themselves to participate if they wish to do so. Actually it has been made easy by Luc taking the lead this year.

The main reason most members don't participate is that they rather be doing something else, whether it be spending time with the significant other, cottageing, camping, getting their kids ready for school, or just plain not interested in friendly games ...

I'll probably be giving the fest a miss after all.

This sounds amazing but is probably currently beyond my level. Hopefully I can make it next year!

Hi

I took this video about 6 years ago of the Taylorville section.
