Hi folks,
Several of us are planning to run the Lower Rouge on Saturday.
It's running around 42 cms, a good level if you've haven't paddled it before.
After some tough negotiations at Whispers, it was agreed to have a "civilized" start time
so the plans are to meet at the Tim's on Montee Paiement at 11:00am (45.504211,-75.676684)
and to be at the takeout at 12:00pm to set up the shuttle etc.
Takeout GPS coordinates 45.643891,-74.68894

I will do my best to be at the take-out at 12:00. The level will be below 40 m^3/s--easy-peasy run with a tall seal launch!

I'm in. would like to carpool if anyone is interested, coming from the west end.

I'd like to go if somebody has room for me. I live on Parkdale so it might be on the way for you Peter or Bill but I could get dropped off at the Tims if necessary.

I finish my training in Valleyfield at 12:00. That means I leave at 12:30. It takes roughly 1 hour 10. I can be at the put in for 13:45.
Bill, I'll txt you when I'm about to leave. If not, I might skip. Although, it's at a nice level and I do miss the Rouge.

Hi Dave,
I'm riding with Tibor but if you can get to either at my place(100 Boteler Street, at Sussex) or at Montee Paiement, I'm sure we can accommodate you!

I'm in for tomorrow as well... I was trying to decide between the two but figured I'd go with the rouge since I've never done it, and there's more people going there now than the Ottawa.
I'm coming from near the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) and can pick someone up if necessary. If this would be helpful for someone, just let me know. Otherwise I'll meet you guys at the Tims at 11:00.

I am out near Constance bay so if Ambleside is where I think it is, it is on the way. what is your address?

I've been keeping an eye on the weather, and although it looks like we'll be paddling in rain for much of the afternoon (which isn't such a big deal since we're on water anyways...) we also appear to be in for thunderstorms this afternoon. Looking at the Lightnight Map and seeing how it's been moving over the last hour, it looks like it will get to the rouge sometime in between 3 and 5 this afternoon, meaning we probably don't want to take too much time getting on the river...
The later we go, the worse the weather will get. (On the plus side, if we do get stuck in the thunderstorm, it's not a very large band of thunderstorms, so it should only last about 30 minutes to an hour at the most). Just something to keep in mind!
To see the maps I was looking at, just click on the link below:

It was great! Tibor: did you ever come to a decision on whether it was the BEST poutine ever?
Some highlights include seeing Dani recover from a nice beatdown in a good-sized hole (don't remember the name of the rapid) as well as Allan doing a nice set of 3 or 4 roles in a row. Also, going through the washer and getting... well... washed for the first time, and doing a nice clean seal-launch after the portage around the 7 sisters falls. Aaah... and how can I forget that moment when we figured out that "Itallienne" sauce on poutine was actually a red pasta sauce in poutine (which is actually WAY better than it sounds). I hope you guys enjoyed it as well! Overall a great first run down the rouge! ;D

Agree it was great fun, including my surf on mushroom. Jim was kind enough to provide me with half of his BEST BEER (thanks, Tibor!) which helped me to survive the BEST POUTINE. Paul did his now traditional smell test after the beer but fortunately prior to the poutine, so I passed. Will still take a shower prior to beast feast, promise.
