Post by: jonyak on March 11, 2016, 01:57:46 PM
So Mackfest is now scheduled for next weekend. March 19-20.

Who's going, where are you staying?

This is a great festival, the rivers are all great.

Info can be found here: http://mackfest.ca/

If you're planning to grab a motel for Mackfest, you might want to stay somewhere other than the Colonial Inn.
Reviews on Trip Advisor are not very good...

Holly Shit!!! 10 years ago it was old, stinky and dirty, I can't even think of what 10 years has done to the place. There's probably mushrooms growing on the walls and ceilings. Bet ya they haven't even changed the sheets on the beds.  YAAAAK!!!!!

Well, just remember... March 19 seemed unlikely as a paddling day, so I  had accepted  months ago to give presentations during the university's open door day Saturday. So I might have to satisfy myself with Bate Island. Maybe Sunday, but I might stay in town then too... --C.

Does anybody know what the Sunday schedule/river is going to be? Early meeting, or later? Perhaps it's worth driving for the party and camp? Still trying to decide, will depend on weather I suppose... --C.

I have confirmation that the black and the salmon are ice free, and fully runnable.

The lake above the salmon is still iced up, so the walk is in play.

Been sick for the last few days so I'm not up to going out on Saturday.
Have fun if you're heading down for MackFest.

Well, since not many people have showed interest in this, and its going to be -15 tomorrow, I think I may pass on mackfest as well.
