Hi folks,
For those interested, a group of us are going to run the Upper Skootamatta on Saturday.
For a description of the river check out the following links:
http://mackfest.ca/rivers/upperskootamatta.aspx
As well, check out Larry's write-from last year: http://smf.cdb-ottawa.com/index.php?topic=5944.msg20820#msg20820
Please note that this is not a run for beginners, Simpsons Chutes is continuous class 3-4 and swims can be long.
Plans are to meet at the Eagleson Park & Ride at 9:00am or at the put-in in Flinton at 11:00am [GPS 44.69234, -77.21190
The usual caveats about spring paddling and cold water gear apply...
Please feel free to use this thread to arrange rides etc.

I'm in!
This river was awesome!
-
Yes, yes, avoid swims in the canyon section, they suck!
Any idea what the level is like compared to last year?
-
18 cms last year
22 cms now but I suspect it will be higher with the present big blob of rain over the area
what's a few extra cms .... extra padding
Have fun ... gone to Tremblant

Great! See you at the Park'n'Ride.

I'll meet you guys in flinton.

I can't join but watch out for canoes barrelling down on you in the canyon! :-)

Great Trip today!
2 Swims, but nothing else and everyone is fine.
We had a small group of 5 people, which was nice in the canyon. Little more water, definitely makes things a little more interesting in the canyon, but not much different.
I took video, and will put together a quick video later today and post it.

Great river, good variety. That 1 km long one is something fun! Easy access and shuttle, thanks to Phil for that!

We should be able to catch it as the water drops.
We ran it at 22, and last I heard it was at 47 and rising.
-
It peaked yesterday at 75 :o and is on its way down...

Oh no! What a terrible place to swim at the start of the canyon. That's a long walk.
