Title: Lower Madawaska
Post by: acampbell on April 10, 2016, 09:27:35 PM
I have only been on the Lower Madawaska at level 100.
What would it be like at the 330 that it is now.
Thinking about going for a drive.

It's very different.  I ran it at about 420 cms a few years ago.  The first rapid is completely washed out.  The huge embankment you have to climb at the takeout was underwater and you could paddle right into the trees.  There were two places on the run where the river went through the bush.  Paddling through the trees was interesting.  Rife Shot was a series of huge waves with 6-10 feet between the crest and trough.  There wasn't very many places to play but a lot of class III waves.
