Ok, so looks like we received an awesome subsidy (or two) for each raft totalling $120 per raft. That leaves everyone on the lists below to pay only $5 each. I'll collect the funds when I see you at HOHW, so please make sure to have $5 on you.
Raft 1 - "CdB - S.S. More Powerful Than Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the Incredible Hulk Put Together"
Jonathan Ward
Jeffrey Templeton
Jessica Templeton
Adam Desrosiers
Dominique Paluck
Élizabeth Gilbert
Raft 2 - "CdB - Name to be determined"
Luc Lafrenière
Mark Pilon
Jini Pilon
Jacques Tejeda (assuming he pays his membership dues! lol)
Richard van Geilswyk
Dave Howlett
My good friends Mark and Jini are on raft 2 and relatively new to whitewater, would Jessica mind swapping rafts with me? Sounds like it would work out well considering Jeff is on raft 1 right now. Jeff, if you can let me know if that's ok and I'll make the change here. ***edit, names were swapped***
Obviously we need to name raft 2.... any ideas?
If all team members can comment on this thread confirming they've read all of this please. We'll use this thread to organize meeting times, etc.

Read it and will bring $5!

Okay done.

Vu et lu. Merci!

Understood, we'll bring the exact amount.

Confirmed.

Hello everyone, just got the below email. Summary, CDB2 is really unlucky and have a stupidly early start. I may consider camping....
Each raft team is to meet at the MAIN registration (right when you walk in from the parking lot) at the registration time posted below. I will have the cash organized to pay. Your job is to simply show up along with your $5 bill (exact change please) and gear. Note that if you haven't rafted before at this event, you MUST wear their lifejackets, so no point bringing yours at that point. I believe it's the same for helmets, but I don't remember. Please clarify if you do know.
***See changes above***

Captains: PLEASE CIRCULATE TO YOUR TEAMS!
Thanks once again for your interest in Hell or High Water. Everything is shaping up nicely for an awesome day on the water.
Please review the attached .pdf for your start times. We have very limited capacity to switch times, but if there is an urgent issue why you can’t make your time please let us know.
You will note that you need to arrive at registration one hour before your first lap to ensure that you are checked in, dressed and prepared for the race.
The registration package (http://www.hohw.ca/wp-content/uploads/info_package_hohw8-1.pdf) has all the details on the whole event. Please review it.
Payment is cash only, $150 per raft which includes your wetsuit. Please meet and register as a team, it makes things easier for us.
As always, there is a full day of fun at HOHW, including free SUP demos, canoe and kayak races, climbing wall and kids inflatables, vendors and of course the dinner/awards party. It’s a big BBQ dinner at the Legion, $10 gets you lots to eat. We’ll have live music, raffles and announce the final times.
All the funds raised through HOHW8 are being shared with Whitewater Ontario, and the Deep River and District Hospital Foundation.

Personal helmets have been allowed every year. Just not personal PFD's.

Ah! Thanks Jeff. That's what I thought.... wasn't sure.

Read and understood. See you all then.

Confirmed.

Read, understood and paid membership. I would be up for the early boat if somebody wanted to trade.

Since Jess and I live in Petawawa, we would be happy to switch to the 7am raft if two others want to switch to the afternoon shift.
-
Well, now that we have three potential swaps, how do
Jacques Tejeda
Richard van Geilswyk
Dave Howlett
feel about taking the afternoon raft instead and swap with Jessica, Jeff and Élizabeth? If you could state if you would prefer that or not please.
I was trying to be with Mark and Jini Pilon, so I'd like to keep us three together. Alternatively us three could swap too, but I'm volunteering for safety boating and I suspect that would complicate things for Phil.
-
Confirmed.
Yup, I would definitely be into switching rafts as I am known to have difficulties rafting and drinking coffee at the same time.
-
OK, so people have agreed to swap. Here are the new raft lists. Thanks for offering to switch. Please make sure to be on time at the registration, gear in hand.
I won't be there for the 1PM registration (I'm safety boating). I will have prepaid for CDB1, just give your $5 to Jon.

You could put the coffee in a CamelBak but the bathrobe and slippers can’t go rafting until June or July.

I will be going up on Friday to scout since I've never run the Petawawa before. I will be camping at black bear campground. Is anybody else planning on camping Friday night?
Elizabeth
-
Yep, I will be there. So is Mark and Jini (I know you don't really know them, but they are good friends).
I should be there around 6. Mark and Jini are meeting me a little later and we're planning on going for dinner at a restaurant a little late if you're interested in joining us.
Also planning on scouting since they've never seen the rapids either.
-
I am probably going to go up friday night as well.
Might as well...
-
Camping Friday sounds good too. Too much driving in the morning...
--C.
-
Sounds like we should get a barbecue or bonfire going Friday night.
Edit: No need to wait for the KWP, when the CdB is there already Luc. Philip said he'll have wood.
-
2 years ago when I did camp, they did have a fire and lots of people around it. I had the feeling KWP were the reason there was a fire, wouldn't be surprised if they do it again.
-
Definitely wouldn't mind camping. That's how we did the upper section last time. I can do stealth camping too if Black Bear isn't open...
-
Awesome! Black bear campground will be open. :)
I am too lazy to bring food to cook so I'd like to join you guys for supper Luc. I'll message you when I get to Petawawa but plan on arriving around six as well.
Elizabeth
-
Roger Élizabeth. Don't forget we'll be having a late dinner. So make sure to be able to survive until 7 or 8 since it will depend when Mark and Jini arrive.

Just received this message from HOHW.
Captains: PLEASE CIRCULATE TO YOUR TEAMS!
Thanks once again for your interest in Hell or High Water. Everything is shaping up nicely for an awesome day on the water. The water levels are right about perfect and the warm weather this week has brought up the water temperatures nicely.
No changes to your start times, but the schedule is attached just in case you lost it. Please be sure to arrive at registration one hour before your first lap to ensure that you are checked in, dressed and prepared for the race.
Payment is cash only, $150 per raft which includes your wetsuit. Please meet and register as a team, it makes things easier for us.
The weather forecast is terribly inaccurate… Im sure it will be hot and sunny. Just in case though, please bring warm clothes for before and after the race. A thermal shirt may also come in handy. IN terms of footwear, you can rent wetsuit booties for an additional $10, or just wear old sneakers so bring some dry footwear.

Luc, I will go paddling with Bill and the gang tomorrow instead of the race. I will give you a cheque next time I see you!

Are people staying for the dinner Saturday? We are debating if we bring our camping gear or not for Saturday evening.

I am, and I'll be spending the night either camping in my tent or car at Black Bear Campground. It was a pretty good scene there a few years ago when I camped at this event; a little rough in the morning but the cold water eventually fixed that.
So our raft team's registration time is at 1:00 and the boatercross is also supposed to start at 1:00; Hmmmmm!
I will be heading up quit early in the morning as I plan to do atleast one run in a hard boat and I want to scout etc. it would e nice to do the slalom run, but ????? SYATR
-
I'm here now and many of us are staying for dinner but leaving afterwards.

Ok, we won't bring the camping gear but we might stay for dinner. See to all tomorrow!

Have fun!
I'll try next year. The spring curse strikes yet again!

First boat had a good lazy run. A short trip on the town section was a good place to find a major leak in my drysuit.
