Hi folks,
For those interested, a group of us are headed to the Lower Laurentians to run the Achigan.
It`s a class 3-4 river with a mix of pool/drop and continuous rapids.
You can find a description at http://192.77.51.51/~cleduc/Canot/05/AchiganLeduc2003.pdf
The current level should hold since the region just north of the river is expected to get 10-15mm of rain tonight and tomorrow.
Plans are to meet at the Tim Horton's in Gatineau on Montee Paiement & Autoroute 50
[GPS 45.504272,-75.676496] at 8:30AM and then head over to the river.
The usual caveats about spring paddling and cold water gear apply...
Please feel free to use this thread to arrange rides etc.

Don't forget about the duct tape ... useful to fix the 10 inch gash in a boat.
All fun and games, no injuries just some bruised egos
The water level was a bit higher than a couple a years ago.
Info debit 44.1 cms whatever that translates to upstream, maybe 11-14 depending what site you reference.
Ah what's a few extra cms between friends?

I just saw one but
I think that it was the best . to see Bruce trye to get out of that hole was instructive wow :)

The Achigan always delivers but this was the best yet in all my years paddling it. Some recirculating swimmers, throw bags aplenty with multiple rope toss practice, followed by the momentary quiet shore side meditation of how nice breathing air actually is. To quote John, "it was epic!" That last hole held two boats in a rodeo/Zumba like cardio session long after the paddlers had swum out, a scene that resulted in more sensible and cautious paddlers to exercise discretion and take the dry line after that.

I was watching some video's of the river this morning, and the level was definitely very high yesterday. It beefed up everything.

I am gonna stay at home today, I am quite sick. I was sick all yesterday, but it seems to have gone into overdrive today.

Happy that some great stories came out of getting the ball rolling on all that epic carnage! I've made a commitment to let someone else do the honours next time...
Caroline, the kayaker we met, who lives at the take out, told Kate and I that the level was actually at 20!
