We are looking for someone to volunteer their backyard and their bbq for this years Newcomers Day.
Let me or someone else in the club know if you would like to volunteer.
Thanks!

Still looking for a volunteer.
The Club can pay for gas/charcoal and snacks and plates, all we need is a place to have it and a bbq to use.
Thanks!

Update: Bruce Samhaber has offered his place for the BBQ, details to follow.

The Newcomers Day BBQ will be at my house in Westboro near Island Park Drive and Byron Ave.
112 Kenora St.
Ottawa, ON
https://goo.gl/maps/WiTzMqp3ok82 (https://goo.gl/maps/WiTzMqp3ok82)
5 minute walk to Metro on Richmond Rd. at Carleton Ave. ust east of Island Park Drive
What to bring:
a chair or something suitable to sit on
warm dry clothes for the evening
something to BBQ
something to share if you so desire ... see note below
If there appears to be a lack of food stuff, Metro is open until 10pm
something to drink
Note on "something to share"
Please don't feel obligated on bringing something to share with the group. It is better to work with a small group to bring something and good idea to post it to this thread is you are that organized. Ever hopeful that we don't end up with too many salads and no sweets or too much leftover food at the end of the evening.
I will provide:
1 Propane BBQ ( a second portable BBQ is available if needed. )
1 4ft round deck table, small table, 1 4ft square table
9 deck chairs, 4 folding lawn chairs and a bench that seats 2
Condiments - Ketchup, mustard, relish, Mayo, BBQ sauce, steak spice
cooking utensils
Plates & cutlery
coolers with ice
some non-alcoholic beverages
1/2L pasta salad, 1L of potato salad and 1/2L coleslaw
Other stuff provided:
some munchies
Time: 6:30 pm ish after the day on the river.
If you happen to arrive early and the place looks empty, feel free to make yourself comfortable in the backyard.
What to expect? Stellar conversations, story telling, maybe some prizes, and of course the much anticipated welcome speech from the CdB President.
Oh, this would be a good opportunity to renew your membership for 2017.
Your surfer host,
Bruce.
