Title: Boating this weekend?
Post by: jonyak on March 28, 2018, 10:46:17 AM
Anyone gonna try and get out this weekend?

Level look pretty pathetic so far, wondering if anyone knows anywhere that is runnable right now.

We're all waiting for Mother Nature to send "Spring" to us but she doesn't seem to taking orders or requests right now...

It will probably be a late start to Spring paddling this year but there is supposed to be good snow pack accumulation in both Quebec and upstate NY.

Beaver creek in marmora is at a low runnable level.

I am trying to find out if the ice is out, I am guessing it isn't.

I will update this later, but I am definitely going to paddle tommorow. It might be a run of the beaver, or possibly the black. If neither of those I will be at Blakeney.

Couple of us went to check out Blakeney this afternoon.
It's open, the bottom of the main/left channel is a bid narrow due ice overhangs but OK.
Watched one guy style it nicely, but he lives there...

I took a look at Champlain today. It's about 1 ft deep! Is this normal for this time of year? It's almost hard to believe that the level will go up from here.

So, Beaver is confirmed open and good to go at a low runnable level.

I still don't know where I am going, waiting on confirmation from some people in the KWP to where they are going. If I do not hear from them by 9 I will be heading to blakeney for 11.

I also left my phone at work, so I am phoneless. Message me on facebook if you need to get a hold of me please.

warm and sunny ... t'was a great day to be on the snow at Tremblant. Didn't do all 96 runs .. lots of natural snow in the area except spring temperatures has been delayed by a couple of weeks.
