Title: Hell or High Water 2018: May 12 (13)
Post by: DaveH on April 17, 2018, 10:05:26 PM
It is still a few weeks away, but figured I'd get this started. This HOHW festival is an annual event on the Petawawa River that was initially started as an effort to help keep the river from being dammed; they've done a good job on that! There is usually a fair contingent of CdB folks that make it there for the Saturday in-town events, and some may hang around for the evening party and to paddle the Upper Petawawa the following day. Info is here:

The Upper Pet is a superb Class 3-4 run, but it requires a very long hike (~ 4 km?) in to the put-in. Paddlers tend to use a variety of means to lug their boats and gear upriver; so if you are thinking about the trip then it may pay to make a plan for this before hand.

Water levels are running higher than normal. There is a short course taking out above Lovers and the long course taking out at catwalk.
Guided rafts and boater cross have been cancelled.

for current changes and schedule.

Cable park is offering water jet pack rides in the pond.

have fun ...

Ryan and I are going up tomorrow.
I hope to tryout some boats.

Let me know if you will be there, so we can coordinate shuttles.

Bruce.
