Title: Paddling Sat. June 23
Post by: Bill Schlarb on June 22, 2018, 01:35:08 PM
A few ideas were tossed around at Whisper's yesterday evening:

Middle Channel Ottawa (paddled last Sat. but always interesting as the level changes)

Lower Rouge  (running around 125 cms, a meaty level, a bit high for play boats )

Petite Nation  ( running around 30 cms, first canyon is very nice for eddy hopping practice, good poutine afterwards )

Other ideas or suggestions?

My only limitation is that I need to be back no later than 5:00

I would likely be up for a run on the Rouge with an earlier start. The level there is dropping fairly fast and it should be ~105 tomorrow which is still quit meaty:

Have Fun! There are reports of wood at the top of the canyon on river left (as usual).

Had a great time, first Canyon was quite nice; lots of eddys and good surf wave at the bottom.
The reports about wood on river left are quite true. It's built up to the point that it will be too difficult/unsafe to remove if much more wood accumulates.
The upside is that the right side was quite runnable today and will probably get better as the wood pile grows...
