Our annual outing arrives on August 12 13 14, to be put on your agenda.
Bonnet Rouge Campground on the Gatineau.
This annual summer event is always fun. Some people make it a weekend, arriving Friday. Most decide to drive up Saturday morning for the day trip on the Gatineau followed by dinner in the evening.
Meet time: Saturday 11 am
Meet place: Bonnet Rouge Campground
Info at: http://www.bonnetrougerafting.com/?lang=en
Map for directions at: http://goo.gl/maps/bLXOg
Dinner: We still have to finalize some details at the level of the meal plan and we come back to you with more detail. Corn for sure! and dont forget to bring your own PLATE and CUTLERY.
Registration:
Arriving at the designated time or slightly before will provide time to register, pay access/camping fees, chit chat, set up your tent, and get your gear ready for paddling. Camping fees are as follows:
Camping: $20/ person/night ( 5 - 14 years: $7 ) add 5$ for the cost of the put in/take out in the camping cost.
Shuttle:
The club pays for a shuttle in the morning ... guessing around 11:40 am. Boats have to be loaded on the trailer only (due to insurance reasons). Please bring your throw rope and straps to aid in securing boats to the trailer.
Gatineau River
Plenty of info describing the Gatineau can be found on the internet. A good place to begin is http://cdb-ottawa.com/rivers-rapides/ and clicking on the appropriate link. In a nutshell, the Gatineau is a long lake, broken up by Class III/IV rapids with sharp rocks along the shore, all in a very majestic setting. The river is not busy with other boat traffic. All rapids are signed with a portage sign and route. Big water fun or try the creek line river right at the Bec du Corbeau. Expect the river trip to last 3-4 hours so bring something to eat and drink.
Dinner:
More info will be add

Planning to go up Friday evening ....
It's the weekend for the Perseid Meteor shower and the skies should be clear.
Travel note --- Queensway is closed this weekend
Crews will replace the Booth Street Bridge this weekend, forcing the closure of Hwy. 417 between the Metcalfe and Carling/Kirkwood exits. The Queensway will be closed from 8 p.m. on Thursday until Monday at 6 a.m.

Hi all!
I am definitely looking to go as well, Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, and camp 1 or 2 night. Plus I will bring cash so will be able to pay/reimburse expenses on behalf of the club.
However, I will not have my car this weekend, it has been borrowed... They are renting me a car, but I will only find out tomorrow what it is and if I can bring my boat with it.
So I may be in fact looking to share a ride! Anybody going up Friday? Let me know!!!

Hi Micheal,
Assuming that we are doing our own shuttle. We will reassess on Sat. depending on the number of people staying and paddling on Sunday.
We can meet at the takeout (Bonnet Rouge) at 10:30am .
Then change, shuffle boats and be ready to leave at 10:45am.
Bruce.

Also stay camping tomorrow, it will be a great week end see you all tomorrow

The Sunday shuttle time had to be changed unfortunately. Departure will be around 9 am instead. Hope you can make it!
