Here's probably one of the best written, easily understood (and sometimes funny) scientific articles in psychology: 

"Unskilled and Unaware of it: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Leads to Inflated Self-Assessments"

Read it, it's attached below. Next time a tragic accident happens involving someone who was said to be "experienced", you'll know why... Cheers!
