Caitlin and I will be paddling the Ottawa this Saturday, August 2, we may be joined by "Mr Hey guess what, I can do backward somersaults", a.k.a Martin. Channel choice depends on level at the gauge. We want a lazy late start so plan on being at the put-in for around 11:15 or WT take out around 11:30. If anyone is interested let us know so that we can make arrangements for shuttle etc.

I'm in for Saturday. I can meet you at the put in or the take out. Just let me know where works best.

I'm in for saturday as well. Should we aim to meet at the take-out at 11:30 and help shuttle up to the put-in? That would probably be easiest for anyone coming from Ottawa area...
Alternatively, carpooling from ottawa would also be an option?

HI
OK Saturday morning 11:30 at WT takeout is good. See you there.
Don't know if I will have extra space in the car, depends on whether or not I am driving the socially irresponsible letch (aka Martin)

If I join (not yet set in stone), I'll be happy to carpool, Jordan.

I'd love to join in for this paddle... does anyone have room for one more in their vehicle? Gas money and driving duties on offer!
-Peter
p.s. I'm at 1132 Gladstone (http://goo.gl/maps/Wyceu) (near the Queensway's Parkdale exit) if that affects any potential offers! :)

I want to go as well. I guess if Dani is picking up Jordan. I can pick up Peter.

Anybody planning to camp and do another run on Sunday?
-
Tibor and I will be going for a park and play session at either Baby Face or Push Button so we'll see you there!
Paul ;D

If all goes well, we plan on being up there (not camping) all weekend.
(level is 1/4)

It turns out that the little snot, aka Martin, will be up there with Craig for the whole weekend, so I have some space in the car this Saturday, actually have enough space for 2 people & their boats.
I am picking up Caitlin in the downtown area around 9 am, so if anyone is looking for a ride & it's more or less on the way, then I could swing by & pick them up.

What about meeting at Eagleson at 10 AM? I'll have space in my car but will likely stay at RR for at least one night.

Does anyone know the level or at least where I find the level on Twitter. I signed up for twitter just to find out but can only occasionally find the link (or whatever it's called, sorry I'm old).

It's 1/4 and "holding steady" (i.e. same as yesterday), as of 1 hour ago, according to OWL's Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/OTTRiverLevel).
(But I'm a Luddite, with no Twitter experience, so you'll have to figure out how to "follow"(?) them, rather than going repeatedly to that web-page!)

Jordan, do you have a vehicle or do you need somebody to pick you up? I'm however staying overnight so you would not be able to give you a ride home Saturday evening.

...The truer portrayal of the heart of a paddler has ne'er been seen!!!
In other news, I have access to a car, but only for saturday. I need to be back in ottawa by no later than 4:00 on sunday (That's an absolutely non-flexible time unfortunately)... Sooo with that being said...
I think It would be easier if I just drove up myself for the day on saturday... On top of the above requirements, I'm trying to figure out how to meet up with a good friend and paddler who wants to join us, who will be coming with unknown transportation hopefully to Carlton Place, and so it will probably be easier if I figure that out without the worry of how that fits in with carpooling... If that changes, I'll know by this evening/tonight and post again with new details... However for now I'll plan on getting myself to the take-out for about 11:30. If because of complications we aren't there by 11:30, I can be reached by text at 905-869-5268 and will be able to give a better estimate of when/if we'll make it on time to paddle. If it turns out he can't make it, I'll be sure to be there on time on my own. Sorry about the confusion Dani! I hope you find a carpooling partner!

Could someone share a link to a map or coordinates that show where the WT takeout is? I don't think I've been there before.
Thanks!

The road entrance is just (20-50 meters, or the next entrance on your right) past the entrance to river run rafting campground, where the weekend on the ottawa was held (when sunday got rained out?). It's not labelled in any way, but there's a sign that says "give right of way to busses" on the left hand side of the driveway (it might be a bit hard to see if the trees have grown in around it, but it should be there). At the very bottom of the road near the river it forks: most people normally go right and park there.
I believe there are a whole bunch of put-ins and take-outs labelled on this map, including WT free take-out. (It's not working on my computer, so I really hope I have the right one)
https://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?msid=205353621598577759867.00044d9c08124f718929b&msa=0&ll=45.710974,-76.727486&spn=0.154149,0.363579
If that's NOT the map I think it is... the road should still be visible as a small squiggle that goes to the river just north-west of the bay that river runners is on. If these directions weren't confusing enough I can always try and answer any questions :P
Hope that helps,
Jordan.
