Title: Beaver Taylorville/Eagle last release for 2014
Post by: ChristianG on September 23, 2014, 12:11:21 PM
Hi.

Here's the accurate info for 2014:

"September 27 – Saturday Beaver – Taylorville 10 am-2 pm
Beaver – Eagle 1 pm-5 pm"

Is anyone interested? 2-3 runs of the Taylorville section, then look at Eagle and decide...

Taylorville info: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2612/
Eagle info: https://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2614/

If interested, bring throw rope, elbow pads, gloves and good helmet...

I wish I could go, but the wedding is coming up quick and I'm getting pretty bogged down.

If anyone is on the fence, then consider this:

1) Taylorville and Eagle are mega fun to both paddle and spectate.
2) Paddling in fall colours is breathtaking.
3) It's going to be a beautiful day: http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/croghan-ny/13327/weekend-weather/334717

I can go ...

Taylorville section is more suited for me.
I can provide a throw rope and morale support for those who want to run the Eagle.

last time we met up at the Fallowfield park and ride

Hi All.

Perhaps it makes more sense, for those who come from the East, to meet at the gas station near Manotick? Eagleson Park'n'ride is a bit of a detour... What time should we be planing to meet? 7:30? 8:00?

The gas station near Manotick doesn't like us leaving cars there for the day.
The switch was made to the Fallowfield Park and Ride last year which is no where near Kanata .. or the car-pooling spot we use when there is a trip up towards the Ottawa Valley

Fallowfield P&R is provides good access to the 416

Have fun, be safe and for Pete's sake bring back videos!

Oh, Beware if Luc is filming and you are doing a run though, just saying (he has a  real knack for capturing the most "interesting" descent lines on film...)

It's a talent, what can I say.

And you're all safe... this time. I'm headed to Keystone, Colorado for a conference Sat-Wed. So I'll be thinking about paddling while I'm schmoozing with potential clients. ;)

Oops... I misread. Fallowfield is just fine, just stay away from colliding double-decker buses and trains. So what time then?

I suppose closer to 7:30 than to 8:00, takes some time to get there and release starts at 10:00. And... Passports! US$! See you at Fallowfield.

Thanks for changing the meeting time at the last minute.  I love getting up at 5am so I can be on the road for 6am for the 2 hour drive from Petawawa to Ottawa to arive at 8am on the dot to an empty parking lot.  Also, thanks for waiting for me seeing how I confirmed I was coming.  You guys are the best.

I apologize Jeff. Everyone was there around 7:15, we waited until just about 8, so we must have just missed you.

the decision was made to get going so we could maximize our time on the river.

I'm hoping I can make it up to you somehow.

My spider senses tingled when someone posts 2 meet times or a 30 minute time span in their posts at some undisclosed place.

One has a few options:
Aim for the earlier meet time ... there's always a Tim Hortons close by.
Check the thread as it develops and especially in the evening while organizing your gear.
Contact the trip coordinator to confirm

I don't think the end of afternoon the day before is last minute by any means.. so meet time was confirmed to be 7:35am which is close to 7:30 as suggested by the trip co-ordinator.

Yes Larry you are absolutely right, I should have checked the forum last night and i won't make that mistake again.  Also, I did aim to be there for 7:30 but it didn't work out, obviously.  Forgive me, I was more than a little pissed after driving 4 hours for nothing.
