Pool Sessions are over. It's Time for Real Paddling!

Starting Thursday April 14 (TODAY).

Every Thursday is Paddling at Champlain Bridge Club Night


Meet at:

Bate Island 6 PM(or earlier) til dusk

Paddling:

What to expect:
cold water ...
surfing waves
lineups

What to bring:
cold water gear
whitewater roll ... don't leave home without it
patience ... for the lineups


After Paddling:

Pub Nite - après paddle-8pm on...friends making paddling plans for the weekend!

Where:

Whispers .. in Westboro (corner of Tweedsmuir and Richmond)

Wing nite and free nachos for club members .

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about the pub and paddling, but we do still have one more pool session. :)

Looks like flood conditions are beginning at Champlain: the level is rising and the 24 hrs fluctuations due to the power stations are smoothed out. With some luck we might have an eddy this weekend!

So... Just went to Bate Island. Water has turned gray but not high enough. No eddy and a very small wave. And lots of small chunks of ice floating down--nothing worrisome though.

I will be at the Pump House after work and then I will head to Champlain to see if anybody is there.
Pump House is great for river running skills (eddy hopping, attainments, ferries and back ferries... ).
Beginners and flat water skills can be done at the bottom section (ferries, rolls, braces... ).

Now's the time to practice before the weekend ;-)

I'm not paddling tonight but most people will be either at the PumpHouse or at Sewer Wave. Some may be at Champlain to practice their roll.

That's St. Patty's day ... Whispers has live entertainment starting at noon and it is normally a packed venue.

I called Whispers and Jenny, our usual waitress, suggested we arrive at 7 PM and sit down to reserve a table.

The band only starts at 8 PM so if we arrive earlier than that say 7PM-7:30pm we should be good for a table for at least eight people.

Actually there are 2 bands ... there is a break around the dinner hour.

Get your green on and come down to our little pub today. Dayton & Eric start at noon, Me&Him continue the party at 8pm tonight. Irish Stew and lots of great promotions all day!

Every Thursday is Paddling at Champlain Bridge Club Night


Meet at:

Bate Island 6 PM(or earlier) til dusk

Paddling:

What to expect:
cold water ...
surfing waves
lineups

What to bring:
cold water gear
whitewater roll ... don't leave home without it
patience ... for the lineups


After Paddling:

Pub Nite - après paddle-8pm on...friends making paddling plans for the weekend!

Where:

Whispers .. in Westboro (corner of Tweedsmuir and Richmond)

Wing nite and free nachos for club members .

Come paddle while Champlain waves are still in and afterwards on to Whispers!
You'll need to drive over 100km further to find the same quality of waves after Champlain is gone.

Planning to be in Ottawa visiting my daughter and catching up with some of the club. Are you doing Champlain and Whispers on Thursday night. If so what time. Also would like to join the group for the weekend on the Ottawa River.

There is a group of us that will be going to whispers this Thursday.

We're gonna get together have a couple beers, maybe some food and catch up before the holiday season is upon us.

I hope that some of you can come join us!

Also, registration for the pool sessions is open, sign up asap!
