Title: Lower Black April 19
Post by: Bill Schlarb on April 18, 2019, 06:27:55 PM
Hi folks,

For those interested, a group of us are planning to paddle the Lower Black.
It's similar to Beaver Creek and it's closer to Ottawa...
The level is about the same as last weekend so it will be got to go (and we know it's ice free!)
Meet in Queensborough On at 10:30am GPS 44.592971, -77.412591

Please use this thread to arrange rides and let others know that you'll be going.

Bill

Yeah, a section I've never done! And I get to warm up by hucking the town's dam. Anybody wants to car pool? My boat's on the car already...

Always some adventure... A cracked kayak and a mashed shoulder... And it was supposed to be an easy run. --C.

Oh-Oh! Mashed? Bumped and bruised I'm guessing. Not dislocated or subluxed I hope. Either way get some of that river ice on it.

Not me--I was lucky I suppose. But shoulder in question is likely only bruised we hope. And they (Jen and Steve) had to stand in the cold by the side of a gravel road for over 1 hr before Jim picked them up (I ended up driving along the wrong dirt road it turned out). As for the cracked kayak, it caused a manageable slow leak. Jim still regrets not running the big drop (he would have styled it), but then again, there was a kayak-cracking rock in there somewhere... Steve and I still began the day by doing the dam drop--it happens so fast there is nothing to say about it...
