Now is the time to buy gear... I don't have one, but I looked at the Stohlquist Freefall dry top. Well made, and it's significantly cheaper right now at Paddle Shack than the cheapest dry top at MEC... At this price, you can't really go wrong, and we might paddle into december if levels go up a bit for things like Sewer wave comes back. So the sale comes in at a good time.
Make sure it fits, though, allowing for 1-2 layers of fleece underneath just to be sure. I had to go to the XL size for my Level 6 top. And stay away from dry tops that have only a neoprene neck gasket. While this is not in itself a bad way to make a neck seal, these tops (Gul makes one for instance) are 'light duty' and are not as sturdy and will not last as long as a real dry top with latex gaskets.
Oh, and with a latex neck gasket, you might need to put a band-aid on your adam's apple before putting it on to avoid discomfort... Cheers! --C.
