TJ, Francois and I (from Beaver fame last fall) drove to the JCartier on Saturday evening to hook up with CCKVEM dudes already there for the next day's activities. We first ran the Tewkesbury section in 2h15, only stopping at the Slalom section. Everyone else had ran it the day before, so not much scouting was needed. Still a couple of swimmers tested the waters.
This Tewkesbury section is around class IV- at that level. With the Slalom being the hardest rapid. BTW, there are a couple of nice creek moves on the left side at that rapid.
Since we were expecting more, we joined force with the other 4 who wanted to run it again and we ran it in 1hr this time, somewhat chased and overcome by the storm/lightning and heavy rain. It could be done in less but ... it wasn't a race, just a continuous paddle.
The water is a bit colder than the St-Laurent, but the rain was warm.
Cute run - nice river, pretty valleys and very few humans around - but not likely to go do it again unless the water levels makes it more challenging.
The second run made it a great outing and the sun came back out to allow us to put civilian clothes again, pack and leave.
On to the next challenge...
