Thanks Larry for your post as I always wondered about the name spelling.
I wouldn't have thought that they would have this spelling in encyclopedia Britannica!

One has to go back into history of the club to better understand the name. Originally the club was started in the parking lot of Trailhead, not a kayak in sight but canoes or open boats as we call them today. Back then there was no internet, so they probably relied on books and encyclopedias for inspiration for a club name.

http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/1366924/coureur-de-bois

There were probably pictures as well, showing canoes with trappers carrying wood, food and drink on the portage trail or canoes navigating wicked rivers.
The name "Coureurs de Bois" ingrained in history books. Right or wrong french grammar, oh well.

Larry

There has been a long standing issue regarding the name of the club.
It is Coureurs de Bois, not Courier de Bois; but the correct expression in French is Coureurs _des_ Bois.
As the name was incorporated, correcting it would be a pain... therefore some frog leg lovers are still eating crow instead.

Don't worry too much about your French, it is apparently already at par with the founders... Aye! Non, pas la t?te...
Courier actually stands for Mail (as in courier du coeur) - or the Mailmen depending on context and the article preceding.

Bien sur, je connais pas quand. Pardon my weak attempt at French, have  to start somewhere... They didn't know when, Christian might get an idea when the whole TV program will be put together. If we could see the cut parts, there will be some really good ones that won't be in the final program.

I didn't take videos, e.g. of the "medals ceremony", because Radio Canada had a slightly better camera
:D  Just the lens cost about $30,000-, Brian said.

Happy to have a landscape record for the club, Paul, at this stage I drive a camera better than a kayak!

My behind the scenes pics of the club's successful paddle to Remic Rapids with Crystal's board and 6 kayaks. CBC videoed the "medal awards" presented afterwards. Denzil gave the CBC crew running commentaries from the concrete tower to explain the difficult backward entry into the surfing wave. Brian the videographer did capture a last-shot almost full screen of Dave (I think) surfing, spinning, & side-slipping. Look out for the program on Radio Canada TV.

I'll have to find a way of getting Google Picassa photos for you to view, or someone can tell me how to insert on the Board. Pasting into IMG doesn't work for me.

Thanks for arranging it all, Christian.
