Farmers Rapids (Lower Gatineau) Sunday May 5th

Over the years I've often heard folks speculating about the rapids just upstream of the Alonzo-Wright Bridge in Gatineau.  There are some big rapids and some serious holes there but generally not really a good place. There is rebar in some of the river junk there and there is talk of underwater caves. There does appear to be a fairly straight forward line down the river-right side side at these high levels though.

A little further upriver and way out of view for most folks is Farmers Rapids and I think that this could be a very decent location during high flows. The river bed here will be totally dry for much of the year as the base flow goes through the hydro station. This has led to a lot of bush like weeds growing up in the eddies and this could certainly be a problem. It appears to be less of an issue on the river left side. Also there have been landslides on the river right side and that has pushed some trees

Anyhow, have a gander at the video if you think that you might be up for going on a nearby mission. Tentative time and Place: Tomorrow 2:00: East side of Alonzo Wright bridge. Don't forget your throwbags!
