Lesson learnt: when attempting to put in on small wet rocks after descending to the bottom of a canyon just a few meters below the giant boil of a big waterfall and above a Class III+ rapid with undercuts etc., don't volunteer to be last.
When nobody is there to hold your boat when strapping in and the boat starts slipping into the water, that's very--let's say--unnerving. The idea of running the rapid with no skirt nor paddle was not attractive. I ended up having to climb back up the canyon and bushwack my way along a rapid that I really wanted to run! Dirk, you owe me one here!
Great river, but at above 50 m^3 / s, it is definitely not like the video that was posted above. Not much 'black' water, mostly white stuff...
