Almost 60.7 and still increasing. Will it reach 61 m? That's above mean sea level, by the way.

Would be up for the Middle Channel anytime, but I am busy Saturday morning...

Ah short short memories ... the same thing happened in 2017 when the water breached the head wall. The NCC certainly knows what the community does on the wave and will reopen access when they deemed it safe. Unfortanately probably not as soon we would like once the levels recede. Currently the wave is washed out.

And the main thing is stay off the Ottawa River ... as ordered by the Transport Minister https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-canada/news/2019/04/statement-by-minister-of-transport-on-navigational-restrictions-and-flood-related-measures.html?fbclid=IwAR22s5NW-g2lz4jdjK4yEdOMmUAQj8avDJZNCnTfI2lbSJH3quHXvWnhghY

Not to say that they will fine you if you are practising rollling at Westboro beach, but if someone calls in and the first responders have to answer the call .... they got better thing to do right now.

Larry

Looks like Bates Island is now closed.

I cycled over to Bates Is. on Sunday  - The first wave is almost flat right now.
Level is 60.55 as of Mon Morn.

Looks like Bates Island is now closed.

Yup, they even announced that on CBC Radio a while ago. I never knew that we were that important!

The river level forecast has the peak at Britannia being this coming Monday, but the peak at Mattawa happening on the following Thursday. And that is after a cool semi-snow period in the north! It is likely to be a long season, but access to Bates may be an issue  :(

And now forecast to go to 60.9 (60.44 was the 2017 record) with a peak on Monday. 60.65 and strong westerly winds on Saturday have a good chance to have serious amounts of water start coming over the wall at the top of the island.

This is going to be ugly!

Any of crowd living in potential flood zones?

I was out in my 9R this afternoon. Good surfing in the 9R easy to catch and surf although the current is fast so some quick edging is required.

Ben Sandeman was out in a carbon playboat and managed to catch the wave a couple of times, if it was breaking for him.

Mark Scrivers son did not catch it in his C1 playboat. Then he switched to Mark SUP and shreded it.

There was two kayaks and some SUPs a few minutes ago when I crossed the bridge. There was a playboat and a Ripper. They seemed to be having fun.

That's insane. There is probably nothing left to surf there!

I will go take a look after the final exam I watch tomorrow, ends at 17:00.
