I'm not totally sure, but I think it was Constant Creek that we did.  There's a Constance Creek runs from Constance Lake near Kanata, to Constance Bay that always causes the mix up.

By long flat section, Mike means you paddle through a forest more than an actual river per se.  Quite scenic; think Louisiana bayou.

The class fiver was one seriously burly drop that no one was interested in probing at today's level. Even being on line would end up in a serious beatdown and most likely a long, cold swim with trees added to the equation.

if you go to blakney , there was a big (serious) strainer a week ago , if you paddle the hard left line down from put in , just as you round the corner below the first big hole, it was there right from shore to about 15 feet out :o,  if you paddle out to the middle from put in , its no concern.  lots of lines to choose at blakney.

Today Simon, Phitty, Ray, Eric and myself paddled Constance Creek near Calabogie.

It was a fairly long flat water paddle to the whitewater section which features one big class 5 (which we all walked due to volume) and a number of 3+/4s.  The stretch was short, but good to be on the river.  All in all, a good early spring run for a short afternoon.  We had planned on hitting Blakeny.  However, some time at the take out and we opted for beer and grub instead.

For those interested in a run to Blakeny on Wed after work please email me at mikeykmckay@gmail.com.
