Hello everyone.
Tonight is the second last pool session, see info at
http://www.cdb-ottawa.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=4620.0There is no session on Easter, last one will be the following week.
We organise these to provide club members with an opportunity to work on skills, whether self-rescue skills like a bomb-proof roll or flatwater tricks, in order for instance to prepare for safe paddling at Champlain in flood conditions without the need to always rely on others because of frequent 'unplanned' swims...
Another benefit of participating in pool sessions, for less experienced paddlers, is that the more experienced ones can observe, offer advice and eventually get to know the skill level of everyone. This will help later, when someone asks "Do you think I have the required skills to participate safely in such-and-such river run?" If they don't know you, more experienced people would have a tendency to say 'no' because (a) they have no idea what your skills are and (b) you've just demonstrated that you do NOT have the required skills to determine that yourself...
Anyway, hoping to see many tonight, Cheers!
