Our NationalLocal Hero, Paul, had fierce competition and had to settle for 3rd place.
But not last place!

I arrived too late to see him in action and cheer for Paul.

Not easy to convince teen aged daughters to go and look at old farts and bellies. :-\
They kind of liked the younger ones with all those muscles/6-pack and their briefs showing from their pants hanging at the knees...
It's a lost cause, my friend. ???

Congrats to Annie-Pier and Marianne whom I got to know a bit on Friday.
Very gracious and nice ladies.

I'm waiting for the 50+ class bracket next year...

LEVEL SIX CAPITAL CUP 2008

Schedule of Events:

***Register before April 15th and get an event T- shirt for only $15. T shirts are $20 after that date. ( they are gonna be cool, limited edition eh?)

Friday April 25th (Registration and Practice)

3 pm to 7pm ? Registration ? payment will be accepted at site.

Warm-ups

Saturday April 26th (Pro Competition Day)

6 am ? 8:30 free warm up:

7:30am - 8:30am final registration for open class, payment WO.
 

8:30am ? 8:45 am competitors meetings:

***As soon as one class is finished the next will begin. So stay on site and listen for instructions.
 

9:15am: Open Boat open
 

9:45am: Women?s K1/C1  open
 

10:15am: Men?s K1/C1 open
 (11: 00 am: Pro Women?s and men?s Competitors meeting.) 11:15am: Cadet (girls and boys)  12:00pm   Women?s and Men?s open final 

1:00pm: Women?s K1/C1 Pro
 

2:00pm: Men?s K1/C1 Pro
 

3:00pm: Women?s and then Men?s Pro Final?s
 

4:30pm Quick Awards for photo ops on site/ Media Interview opportunities!
 

6pm ? Dinner Location- Grace O?Malley?s (on Merivale).
 

7pm - Awards Ceremony for all Categories.

 

 

Sunday April 27

** Wave is open most of the day to play and demo boats and gear. BBQ ? Talk shop meet the dealers and paddlers ? learn about some trips etc.Meet people like you who enjoy paddling and the outdoors. Level Six Athletes will be on hand for on water clinics To be Announced.

10 am ? Clinic Outfitting your Kayak
 

11 am- Clinic Outfitting a C1
 

12 pm ? comp. Auto Racks Big Trick Contest.
 

1 pm ? comp. Tandem  Canoe Rodeo
 

2 pm ? Clinic: paddling gear ? what you need to know.
3 pm ? Shut?er down.

According to the press release:

The competition will be held on Saturday April 26 with a party and prizes given out Saturday night at the After Burner Party.  Sunday April 27 there will be an event day of boat demos, free clinics, hanging out, BBQing, talking gear and boats.

The event will be held for the 7th time at Champlain Rapids on the Ottawa River.
