Great day indeed. One shouldn't believe Environment Canada too much when deciding on a trip: it was supposed to rain all day. Instead, I got a good suntan... on my hands.

May I suggest we update our Rescue/Swim status on our profile? I have one of each now this year...

OK, I do not know about you, but I had a great day.
And I even feel I made progress.
I did manage to swim (again) at Little Trickle in front of a standing mob, but otherwise my roll is much better (thanks to Paul's efforts).
Zooming through Lower No Name was a load of fun, watching the others go through as well, especially Sandra's performance.
I practiced surfing at the play spots without that sinking feeling.
I even practiced hand rolls at the end - thanks to Carine.

It is nice to feel not being at the bottom of the food chain anymore; I may not need a gills graft after all.
But to the new comers and those who may feel they replaced me in the food chain, may I simply suggest to practice and practice and to listen and learn from our more senior and very helpful group - like our good old sport Bill, Don, Larry, Shawn, Paul and Grahame, etc.
Thanks to their patience and teaching, I am even becoming a fisherman myself; having the honor of participating in fishing out our honesty prized Carine twice yesterday.

Obviously, I still have lots of learn, but in such great company, it is a pleasure.
I might even be able to help more and more and returns the favors...

Working on accumulating brownie points for the next outing, cheers,
Louis Dionne

Carpooling!
« Reply #17 on: June 13, 2008, 09:58:26 PM »
Those of us who live near the centre of the city are meeting at Champlain Bridge tomorow at 8:20am to arrange for carpooling. If you are looking for someone to carpool with chances are there will be someone there also looking for the same thing.

See you tomorrow!

Paul ;D

Hi David,

You can meet at my place and we'll carpool (either your car or my car).

My address is 323 Ferndale Ave (close to the Champlain Bridge). If anyone else wants to meet here for carpooling there is lots of space in the driveway.

NOTE::  This is a message from TIBOR, not from SEAN.

TIBOR will be going to Newcomers Day this weekend.

He lives in Bells Corners, and is offering at least 3 spaces in his minivan.
(He can probably take a total of 6 people and boats, and that will get his photo on the cover of the webpage!)

Please contact him directly if you want to organize a ride.

His Cell # is 613-762-0616.
Leave a message if he doesn't pick up.

TIBOR (sent by Sean...)

One more ...

I'm hoping to catch a ride from the west end and split the gas.

Hi all!

Same for me: I'm downtown, and as usual more than willing to pay for gas.

Hello CDBers!

Looking forward to Newcomers Day!

Any chance I can get a ride with someone from Downtown to the river (and hopefully back...).

It was 12 1/4 on Sunday and there's no more recent level updates on www.ottawakayak.com
(Odessey was great on Sunday!)

Dear CdB,

This Saturday, June 14th, is the club's annual Newcomer Day.  We will be running the Middle Channel of the Ottawa River: meet at RiverRun at 10am.

Apr?s-paddle festivities include a BBQ in Ottawa at Larry Wong's house.  Significant others and friends are welcome to join us.  Bring your own drinks and meat/veggie for BBQing, perhaps a salad or dessert to share.  Bring a chair as well if you wish.

Some salads, condiments and desserts will be provided.  Prizes to reward the day's highlights will be drawn as well... ;) The party starts at 6pm!
