-Vice Pres, LOuis-nominated by Chis F
-Treasurer, Kelly Mulhall-nominated by Louis
-Training, Larry Wong-hopefully he will say yes...
-Newsletter-Ray Canton- Hopefully he will stay on...

Other members of the exec
-Web/Forum person, Ian Bowles-can't be there next Saturday, but will do the job if we elect him...
-member at large, Colin Monneypenny-Nominated by paul
-external/PR, Paul-nominated by Louis
-membership person-Chris Farady nominated by paul
-Other tasks
-Pool session person-Sandra Houston-nominated by paul

I hope I got this right

Please feel free to nominate others to any positions or ask that someone nominates you. These are supposed to be elections not acclamations...

2.  I would also like to see a list of our current executive and which positions are being vacated. We don't want to nominate new people to roles for which the current holder would be willing to volunteer again.

From what I know...and the CdeB website...we had
Presidente: GrahameH
VP: CarineV
Treasurer: SandraH
Newsletter Editor: Ray
Training: ??  was it Larry or Bill ?
also
Membership: moved from Jim to ChrisF this summer.
PR dude: PaulP who dropped out
Pool Sessions: SandraH
Webmaster: ?? not sure, was it Grahame?
Member at large: ??
Springs outings: BillS (not listed as an exec position, is that a member at large then?)

Carine has been for several months in Inca country and indicated to me she can't continue as member of the Exec.
She should be back for a while, at least, in a couple of months.

Having more than one choice for a specific position is not a bad thing.
Gives us choice; we can then vote.
Even if we have someone there who would be willing to stay, we may elect another...unless the bylaws state something to that effect (Larry?).

Looks like we have ChrisF willing to stay on membership.
PaulP might come back as PR, a role that suits him well, I would add.
I do not know if Grahame is willing to take another year of constant beating as Pres.
But I was kind enough to present Bill to the wolves...as an option.
And being aware of some of the challenges of the president role, I am willing to help Bill out as VP, since some like ChrisF have faith in my skills in that area - but not in the dressing style area, apparently...
In an effort to have new blood participating in the Exec and spread the load, I nominated Kelly as Treasurer.
And he said he would be willing to take this with others covering pool sessions and membership.

That sums pretty much all I know or see.
Except that with his vast club knowledge and ability to keeps things together and dedication to less experienced paddlers, I think that Larry should also be part of the Exec.
My 3 cents.

LD

I hope Ray will want to stay on as Newsletter Editor, his newsletters were excellent and that Larry will resume his duties as Director of Skills Development as he has unique skills in this area.

In case anyone has missed this from the other thread on the AGM...here is a reprint:

I would also like to propose a candidate for our president position.
Someone whom everyone knows, likes and respects and who is always there when we need or seek help or guidance.

I'd like to nominate our dear Mr William Schlarb for president.
Aka Bill.
Aka Papa Heli
Aka Brother Bear

Amen

1.  I was wondering if one of the old timers ( I mean someone who has been in the club for a few years) could confirm the exec list that Paul put up and give a bit of a job description for each. For example, I haven't a clue what kind of an executive role a 'member at large' plays.

The Exec list actually come from the CdB Members Handbook. It used to be sort of available via the website. It should be updated since the Club no longer uses an answering machine or email coordinator for trips but the other descriptions for the other positions are pretty close to what is done.

Quote
President -presides at all meetings and is responsible for general management and
supervision of the affairs of the club. The person who fields questions, comments and
criticism about on the club.

Vice-President -replaces the president as required and is in charge of club social events. Is
Official Keeper of the Party Box.

Secretary/Treasurer -attends all meetings and records the minutes. Custodian of all books,
papers, records, and other documents of the club. Performs the usual duties of a Treasurer
(maintains the books in good order). Stands in line at the bank.

Director, Skills Development -responsible for the planning, organizing and promoting the
activities of the club, and for promoting increased interest, appreciation, understanding,
knowledge, safety and skill development.

Newsletter Editor -publishes the CdB newsletter four times a year by obtaining articles,
pictures, and advertisers, putting it all together (typing, composition, etc.), arranging for
printing, and mailing.

External Contacts -maintains liaison with provincial bodies such as the Ontario Wild Water
Affiliation and the Ontario Recreational Canoe Association as well as other whitewater clubs.

Member at Large -assists other Directors in performing their duties. In the past has been
most concerned with skills development.

Appointed positions:
Membership Coordinator -receives membership applications and fees and maintains the
membership list

Answering Machine Coordinator -records the weekly calendar of events on the answering
machine

E-mail Coordinator -recieves submissions from members and send out a weekly E-mail
message to the members E-mail list containing these.

Webmaster -maintains the CDB website.

I know I promissed not to nominate anyone else , but I can't resist. I hearby nominate  Colin Moneypenny to the position of Member at Large. Colin is a proud open boater who paddles fearlessly where other fear to thread and would make an excellent addition to our Executive. He has accepted the nomination if we will have him and will be at our AGM, after paddling the infamous Pump House during the afternoon!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Chris.
While on the nomination streak, I'll nominate Kelly as Treasurer. Kelly Mulhall.
I spoke to him earlier, today, over the phone, and provided that we have someone on Pool Sessions and Membership, he is willing to join the rank of illustrious nominees...(and I might be able to sway him into buying socks and sandals for everyone in the club...)

BTW,
The socks and sandals are related to a medical condition...
Not mental illness, spare me, but varicose veins.
So these are medical prescription socks. Pressure socks.
OK, that does not explain why the sandals too.
But, in a nut shell...don't grow old, Chris...
Body and brains are simply rotting away. ;)

-Web/Forum person,
-member at large,
-external/PR,

Hi folks,

I would like to nominate Louis Dionne for the VP exec position. I'm sure he'll do a great job, as long as he does not try to pass any dress-code rules (Socks and Sandals....).

Sorry Louis, I couldn't resist a little dig...

Cheers,

Chris Faraday

Being new to the club this year I don't know much about the club's structure. I'm curious to know what positions exist within the exec and what responsibilities are associated to each position.

I would like to nominate Chris Faraday to the position of Exec Membership person, as well as nominate Ian Bowles to the position of Exec Website Administrator. They have both been occupying these positions in the last months and have done a great job of it and are willing to continue to accomplish these important tasks if the membership will let them.

Firstly
this topic deserves its own thread.
Secondly
It is always nice to nominated by your peers...  I have already talked to Bill and unfortunately he doesn't want to hold the position of President on the executive.
Thirdly
It is much nicer to approach a potential candidate privately before posting in a public manner. That way it doesn't put the potential person on the spot when they decline.

and finally
there is nothing stopping someone from volunteering for any of the positions and asking someone to nominate them.
