Check AW site. New York creeks are too low.

So what is the plan?  I have a day pass for Sat and neeeed to do some paddling.  Living down nearer the border, I always vote for something in NY state.

160 would probably be fun too.  But here's an idea: register for the Saturday, May 9th,  "Hell or High Water" race even in the town section of the Pet.  It's just for fun, no prizes (other than bragging rights) and the water should be at a good medium level by then.  I've entered and am aiming to lose big time. THEN, on Sunday, head into Algonquin park and run the Upper Pet at what should be a nice level by then.  I think there's still snow in the park so the water should hold for a bit.

hi

Our normal run is around 50-60 cms ... using the search function on this forum for the trip report of the high fun epic run was done between 100-110 cms
Present levels indicate 160-170 cms .... hmm

There is no "gate" at the Sand Lake gate, but only at campground into Achray which opens at the end of April

The road is not maintained during the winter ... so road conditions would be suspect.

Phil said this weekend that the Pet hasn't hit last year's highs this year. So, if you are looking for a higher than normal run, this weekend or the next may be the best shots. I'm still trying to get to Mackfest, so next weekend is my preference, but I must not miss out on the Pet this year. Anyhow, Poplar Falls is the best run, and as I understand it, was a little sketch at too high of water.

I'm in for sure for next weekend, and maybe if it was this weekend. Mike is still hoping for a miracle for the Laurentians.

For those who were there, what was the level at when we had the epic high water run on the Upper Pet last year? If the Laurentian runs have dropped too low and the spring creekers out there aren't into the crowds at Mackfest, perhaps a white knuckle run down the Upper Pet is a possibility? Does anyone know if Sand Lake Gate open year round? The access into the rail bed will be partly under water so we would need a couple vehicles with clearance. Thoughts?
