Well,
It has to be mentioned that Ray's boat was brought from Ottawa Sunday morning for the run--a long way. Maybe it ran away a few time and had to be herded back (thanks Larry), but for a boat named 'Crazy', what do you expect?
No Louis D however. Understandable, he is be made of chocolate (hence the colour of his skin) and would have melted in the rain.
Also, let's note that we ran into Paddler Adam both days on the river. He was part of that famous scout group who aborted their run, but he wouldn't give up... And I should thank him for shouting at me, as I was dropping in Hass Hole, that my skirt wasn't on. This could have turned into another 'awkward moment'...
The banter about bailing out on the river run was short lived: I have photographic evidence that the three that were involved (well at least two of them) had a good time.
I also have some great footage of playing at Jessop's campground... rapid! As well as in Rifle Shoot. In bright sunshine, no less. And someone got in my under there. Barenaked Ladies?
In the group, girls pretty much outnumbered boys, but the mosquitos were still thirsty for blood and unfortunately got busy tapping my abundant but low quality blood, in addition to the good stuff. Oh well.
And... you have to admire Annie. She demonstrated her skills to everyone, surfing and riding waves with a real economy of paddle strokes. And that economy is not just applied to paddling! She astonished me by pulling in the Shell gas station in Eganville with, according to her car's computer, only 3 km worth of gas left in the tank!
Now the real awkward moment is that the bozo that I am found out, once arrived in Ottawa, that I had deposited my paddling gear bag behind the car at that gas station, while accessing my food cooler. So I ended up borrowing a car later and revisited old Eganville. Thanks to a nice diner manager there, I had freshly brewed coffee for my way back, and for free! That's even though the diner was actually closed when I stopped by. I forgot the name of the restaurant, but I know where it is and will certainly stop there next time.
As I have been saying for a while, when I have time I'll assemble a collection of this season's (so far) action. My home computer just doesn't have a reader for XD cards (Olympus' proprietary storage), so it will have to be done later. But tomorrow I'll share some incriminating photos.
Cheers all!
